RC-27

There are several RC-27 owners on this list but it appears we seldom check in, hence also my late response. I like the RC-27 so much that I have two of them. I just shipped another one back to the U.S. (from Switzerland where I am based) where it will sail out of Newport and Marblehead. Unfortunatel...

Paraanchor

Eric and Bill Roberts use on their RC-30 a 6-foot Para-Tech Sea-Anchor. Works great, very expensive. I am using on my RC-27 a 6-foot military surplus parachute sea anchor. Can be had cheap for $29 on Ebay. Works just as great. Unfortunately it is also just as heavy as the Para-Tech anchor. Cheers fr...

Hogsbreath 100

Here is some info on the two SC-22s at the Hogsbreath 100 from Key Largo to Key West. Eric Roberts and Dave Weir sailed the Roberts' SC- 22, Bill Roberts and I on a borrowed SC-22 (which, in fact, was the very first SC-22 that had ever been built). For Bill and me the race quickly turned from a rega...

Miami - Key Largo

Number four at the bridge (and fifth overall) was Mike Tierney's RC-27. As a fellow RC-27 owner, I think he should have been there right with the RC-30... :-)

Miami - Key Largo

This is the RC-30 approaching the Card Sound Bridge. Note that after 2 hours and 11 minutes of racing only two competitors are visible on the horizon: The two SC-22s. Just twenty seconds earlier the RC-30 had still been going at 20.0 knots.

Miami - Key Largo

I am finally able to post some photos, now that I am back from Florida. The Miami to Key Largo race was a great, almost clinically clean operation: Well prepared boats, good navigation, crews in tune with the boats (Eric Roberts, Dave Weir who has sailed many cats incl. 2 years Playstation and me on...

Longevity of carbon

In my experience carbon either breaks (right away) or it lasts. Beams on my boat (made by same firm which makes the Ventilos) have lasted almost 20 years now. 3.5mm thickness.

Cheers, Claas

Ventilo M2 vs. RC-27

Frankly, I don't know, but I guess the Ventilo is faster. Performance wise, on paper, the RC-27 and the Ventilo M2 are quite similar. On the water, we don't know for sure as only one RC-27 remains in the French-speaking part of Switzerland on Lake Geneva and competed against the Ventilos last year. ...

Nice boat!

Daddio is a nice boat! A friend of mine considered briefly buying it this spring but Rob wouldn't reduce his price enough! :-)

Cheers from Switzerland,
