I am always jealous of the great regattas you guys have. Things like TradeWinds and the Mug. We have a limited version of that kind of racing in So Cal but that is 8 hours away and the accommodations are always tricky/expensive... Maybe it is just a grass is always greener on the other side sort of ...

How much do you sail?

This question is directed at everyone but I am really curious to hear the answers from Matt, Tom and Bill. I'm curious if you have time to sail or are too busy running a business to get out and enjoy what got you into the business in the first place! (I've seen this happen to friends of mine) So how...

Well I just wanted to say that yesterday I deliberately flipped my boat to try this out. I climbed up top, lengthened side shroud and flipped the righting line over the hull. Then I hooked the line to my trap harness and hung there and nothing happened. So I thought what happens if I kick off the tr...

I was actually just about to post a question about this. :) How is this supposed to be rigged. I have a single line going through a jam cleat that is connected to 2 lines each going through a block attached to the boom. Each end of these lines is tied to a ring that 1 of the jib sheets runs through....

That is what I was told as well. However I find it tricky to do that. I find it easier to go over the top of the hull but then again I have really long arms. :)

That is pretty cool but I have always wondered how you get the boat up the beach? Seems tough to push a 800+ lb boat up the beach!

That being said I sure wish I had one so I could find out! :)

Hi Eric, I have a 20, not a 21, but you sound like a nice guy so I thought I would say hi. :) I know of a couple other SC20's in the general area (Sacramento, CA) but we are definitely a minority of boat owners. Someday I would like upgrade to a new ARC, but the budget doesn't allow it right now. -E...

Well I am not convinced that where you tie the line makes a big difference but tomorrow I will try to draw some free body diagrams and prove it to myself one way or another. Either way I think I recall this discussion on the beachcats list and nobody ever convinces the others. :) However you point o...

Mathematically speaking it doesn't matter where you righting line comes from, you will get the same leverage. But realistically speaking the higher it is the easier it is to hold on to. However the difference in over the hull vs under the hull probably makes very little difference in the ability to ...

I have actually done this exact repair. I had a moderate leak where the rear transom meets the main part of the hull. I had planned to cut 1 hole on the top of the hull a couple inches in front of the back of the hull. While cutting I noticed it got much harder at one point. At the very top of the h...

You guys make me wonder. I flipped my SC20 at least once this summer and I righted it nearly by myself with no special effort short of using the shroud extender. I weigh 200 lbs and had a little help from a ~100 lb helper (I was solo when I flipped). With me leaning back on the righting line, standi...

She looks great! Can you describe what you did to the hulls? What did you paint them with? How many hours did it take? I am still hoping to do something like this to my boat this winter.

Bill, OK, I am a little confused. I have owned this boat for 17 years or so but obviously did not buy it new. Aside from the ring hook what is not original/correct? I have talked to Tom on several occasions about this and based on his feedback replaced the halyard and sheeves. Is there something wro...
