Re: SC20 diamond wire tension
I'm pretty sure that if I ran them this slack the nylon inserts would still be able to pop out again. Sounds like I'll just make them just tight enough to be not loose and call it good enough.

SC20 diamond wire tension
So I have an SC20 that is old enough I assume it does not have a prebend mast (Hull #113). I tried searching but couldn't find the answer to this... What is the proper way to tension the diamond wires? Or can someone send me the link to the right thread? I have a vague memory that they should be loo...

Re: Moss Landing Race
Thanks for the offer, but I think I'll give Tom a call before too long. I just had the hulls redone and it really makes the tramp look even worse! Of course as my wife pointed out once I get the tramp I'll probably want new sails too!

Re: Moss Landing Race
Totally agree about the weather. This is just the right time of year.
Also as I look at the pic of my boat I'm reminded that I really need to order a new tramp soon. But I've been saying that for a couple years now... It is functional but ugly.

Moss Landing Race
So this weekend we had a "race" from Santa Cruz to Moss Landing here in CA. It is about 16 miles across the Monterey bay. Weather was beautiful, winds were probably in the teens. The sailing was between a broad reach and downwind. I haven't posted here in a while... But I am a fairly exper...

Re: chain plate backer
My boat clearly didn't have that since I just have a piece of Al strapping with 2 holes in it. It sounds like this is a piece of Al bent to match the hull? Is this something I can get from Tom?

chain plate backer
I was putting the chain plates for the side shrouds back on tonight when I notice a 1"x6" aluminum backer plate laying in the bottom of the hull. It appears to be a backer for the side shroud chain plate. I assume it goes behind the 2 horizontal screws in the chainplate? Is there one for t...

Re: SC refurb
I got the stickers from Tom, I thought they would be the perfect finishing touch and luckily he still had some laying around.

Re: Tiller Crossbar
Do you happen to have a picture? Any idea what the OD and wall thickness is of the outer pieces? I'm guessing it is 1" but I'm trying to see how much wall thickness I want.

Re: SC refurb
I really don't know what it was before but I think it was a patchwork of paints. ~15 years ago when we were stepping the mast the sterns jumped up, over and came down on the Trailex hull cradles putting a neat set of holes in the hulls from the various pieces of channel. I was probably all of 15 at ...

Re: SC refurb
No we just put it on the sawhorses to stripe and polish it. Actually it isn't paint it is gelcoat and I had that part done by a pro. I wanted to paint it myself but with 2 little kids running around I just couldn't find the hours needed.

SC refurb
I've had my SC 20 for about 20 years now (bought it used) and it had seen better days. Still sailed great but it was looking a little rough. We took it in for a new gelcoat job and after a lot of elbow grease (mostly a friend of mine's) it is looking really sharp. I thought I'd share some pics even ...

Tiller Crossbar
I'm embarrassed to admit this but ever since I've owned my SC20 (about 20 years now) the tiller crossbar has been a 10' stick of 3/4" EMT conduit... It needs replacing and I'm curious what the proper diameter and wall thickness was supposed to be. Can someone measure theirs?
Thanks,
Eric

ARC 22
Last month I visited my brother on Chicago who keeps his H18 at Gilson Park in Wilmette. 100 yards up the beach from the park is a ARC22, and man that is a sweet looking boat! Living in California I don't see many SC/ARC boats and when I do it is almost always an older SC20. It is easy to see my SC2...

Are the SC19 and SC20 dagger boards the same?
