Hi Matt,
That worked great.
Out of curiosity, why did I never need grease on my older SC15? I sailed it for 20 years.
The only difference I can think of is that we now use the trapeze on the newer boat.
Thanks.

Squeaky Ball? SC15
I have been fortunate to own 2 SC15s. The first was a used Whaler-era that I had for 20 years. More recently, I got a used mid-90s model. Both are wonderful. However, the first one never made a sound. After 4 years, the newer one now squeaks like an osprey. The first boat never had grease on the bal...

Re: Proper reeving of rudder lines?
Sorry, I haven't been back in a while.
The simple answer is just reverse the lines where they are screwed into the rudder. Normally, the line that lifts the lock is screwed to the lift side of the rudder. Switch it, so that it's connected to the drop side of the rudder.

Re: Hobie 16
Oops, I got confused by the reference to Naples. Never mind. I'm up here at the top of the Chesapeake on my SC15.
You want to chat with Kevin. Apologies for being nosey.

Re: Proper reeving of rudder lines?
2 items. First, the newer rigging from Aquarius has larger diameter spacers between the 3 channels to prevent overrides. That is a big help. Second (and don't shoot me), I reversed the rigging so that it's a single pull to drop the rudder, and a double pull to raise it. I sail in shallows with lots ...

Re: Start of the May 2016 Mug Race
Bill, Was the line long enough for all 75 boats if they were on the same tack? If not, then a staggered start would have been better. If the monos were clearly on starboard tack, then they have right-of-way independent of motion. I don't know the rules if a boat is dead-to-wind and stalled. One of t...

If there is anything organized on the Chesapeake, let me know and we'll anchor our SC15 as the windward mark...
There is a fleet of cats just south of Annapolis, maybe we could set something up there.

Did the Laser Cat ever find success?
Our local sailing school had deals with both Laser and Hobie - they had the latest and greatest every season, from Waves to H16s to Laser Cats, as well as Lasers and Escapes.

Re: Anyone sail San Deigo CA?
I hope you're headed for San Diego Harbor, as you'll do Mission Bay (Sail Bay) in about 5 minutes end-to-end. And there is nothing like sailing in the lee of an aircraft carrier... I've rented a sloop out of a marina on Harbor Island. Or perhaps a friendly inquiry to one of the yacht clubs will pay ...

AquaCat?
Did anyone else come across an AquaCat when they were (much) younger? They were popular on Long Island Sound in the 70s, and probably elsewhere. It had a foam ball at the top, which meant I could flip it anytime with no risk. It was only 6-feet wide, so it was easy to right. I went through two of th...

If I read all the words correctly, the earlier book is not available through Amazon, and the later book is mislabeled.

Oh yes, it's very nice to know that even when the bows are 95% under water, they'll pop back up.Bill Roberts wrote:And it makes pitchpoling much less likely and it gives the boat a higher top speed. What's your choice???
These are engineering trade-offs, and I'm not complaining at all - I love my cat!

Hull pads?
A while back, I recall someone who installed foam pads on the top of their hulls near the trampoline, just for comfort. I can't find that thread anymore.
Anyone recall this, or am I getting Anheiser's?
Thanks.
