Re: SC 20 tuning
Your questions indicate that an introductory book might be a good first purchase. 'Catamaran Sailing' by Phil Berman can be found on Amazon. His book and several other similar books explain the basic systems, rigging and parts of a catamaran. Boat design and rigging is all about handling loads in co...

Re: SC 20 tuning
Start with mast rake, I use about 2 degrees, 3-5 is suggested. Do you have the Hyfield levers for the sidestays? If so, the palm of your hand should be sufficient to close the lever, if it takes more pressure than your hand can muster, you are to tight on the rig. Adjust using the holes in the fores...

Re: glut on the market..............
Rack em, pack em, and stack em. Hobie 21's, Nacra 20's, Supercat 20's take your pic, big boats flooding the market. Like 20 of these boats on the market to choose from right now. Sellers with boats in the weeds see the asking prices, then decide it's time to bail on their boat as well. Great buyers ...

glut on the market..............
In a typical year you might find one or two Supercat 20's on the market. My latest google search turned up 4 of them!!! Go figure, things seem to run in bunches. If I could buy em all, we could field a regatta class of 5 boats, although 3 of em aren't class legal anymore.

Check your private messages, I sent an email on how to contact Jeff. I quit kayaking un-runnable rivers for much the same reason. I found living with less adrenaline preferable.

Re: Newb with SC19
K2ride, Sorry for the harsh welcome, but welcome aboard. Post some pics of your new 19. If you are anywhere near the Chesapeake Bay we sail into mid November and can get you a ride on a Supercat. We have three 19's, three 15's and one 20 in our fleet. Jeff S. has two extra SC 19 main sails, they are...

Re: Newb with SC19
Where are you located? I have a perfectly sail-able 19 that I began tearing apart for that same reason, ama's. I bought a 20 to sail in the meanwhile and that was a mistake ;-) the fun factor stalled out my tri project. Your post says you don't have any catamaran experience, if that is so, either of...

Re: Newb with SC19
Lots of intel on this forum.......... begin reading, read everything, read all of Bill Roberts' posts (use the advanced search engine to sort) The 19 and the 20 are very different boats. The 19 is a stretched 17 (I believe) At one time they made a Supercat 18 square which was 12 feet wide, so yes it...

Re: SC20 diamond wire tension
Efinley, Tom tells me there is no 'number spec' on the diamond tension. (I called with this very question) Measure above the turnbuckle 15 inches (I think) and see if you can press the wires until they contact the mast, then experiment from there. I run mine way tighter than this. Do not trust the m...

When all the stars align...................
Some days it's right in your wheelhouse, the wind speed, the wave height, the point of sail............. everything comes together for a ride that is so 'dialed in' all you need do is sit back and enjoy. This is one of those days........... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jIxUMlsOHSc&feature=you...

Re: folding 22, 27
J Drew, appreciate the reply. 1.5 x 2 = 3 hrs + 1.5 x 2 = 6 hrs (the second part of the equation is the round trip drive time) My wife will not leave the house before dawn to go sailing. (that's inhumane she says) After chopping 6 hours out of the day, how much sailing can you really do? (add in tha...

Re: folding 22, 27
Bill, I love you man. You are my inspiration, I mean that sincerely.... but ........ I have many issues with the telescoping 20. One of the issues is ramp width and launch sites, no amount of electricity or trailer perfection is going to fix this problem. I can't launch the boat in the 'wide mode.' ...
