Re: how to replace batten pocket grommets?
Matt, Thanks for the reply. Peeled apart with side cutters you say. I'll give that a try. Sounds less perilous than a drill bit. I think the current plating is nickel, what's left of it. I ordered some stainless steel grommets and the proper tooling. I sincerely hope I don't have to rip the seams on ...

how to replace batten pocket grommets?
The chrome plated brass grommets on my mainsail are really corroded. A clean up doesn't last too long. What's the preferred replacement procedure? Besides taking it to the sailmaker and loosing the sail for a month. Do you drill out the grommets with a drill bit or counter sink? How do you go about ...

Re: Tubular batten cap adhesive???
I went with the Locktite Epoxy for Plastic. I flame broiled the leech end caps, cleaned all surfaces real well, applied a lot of epoxy, and taped the ends in place with white electrical tape. They would push back out otherwise. On the #3 batten I used Gorilla Glue super glue. On the longer battens th...

Re: Need repair advice
I think you have the right idea. I would want to know that the inner layer of glass was solid. If you could get the repair area horizontal it would be a help. If the inner lamination is fractured you could try getting the repair horizontal and inverted overhead. Then you could inject resin into the ...

SC17 Charlotte NC $1500
http://charlotte.craigslist.org/boa/5944837368.html Here's a cat in need of rescue. I think the seller is mistaken on the model year. I think he is dreaming on the price. In my case, purchase would constitute grounds for divorce/committal. http://houston.craigslist.org/boa/5958600316.html This one ...

It looks so cool that accidents run away from it? Non skid finish? Nice rounded edge?

Re: Beam wedge Question
That would be the port side forward pair. There were no markings that I could discern. The one with the offset hole was outboard.

Re: Beam wedge Question
What, these? I made all of them I could look that shiny and then primed them with zinc chromate green. The inboard rear ones I couldn't get off as the traveler track covered the access holes.

Re: Spinnaker Theory
Bill,
The leech on the main in that picture is almost parallel to the mast all the way up! Talk about more cowbell, what's the ratio foot/head on that mainsail?
ps: Is the main brailed up on the bottom?

Re: Stress cracks
Welcome. Be advised we NEVER call the hulls pontoons! My understanding is that stress cracks are caused by movement of the laminate under the gel coat. I would be glad of further enlightenment on this subject. I have stress cracks around my rudder gudions that are in need of attention. Perhaps the b...
