Re: ...... to be continued......... r.a.p.a.y.o.r.
Well Bruiser, I can understand your point. If I don't have a goal to shoot for, then things can easily get put off. The "perfect day" will never come. It will, but most likely I'll have something else going on. The mug, for me, is that goal. Where I place in the crowd is secondary to finis...

Re: TSC Heavy-Duty Poly Utility Storage Box, 44 inch
This morning I was thinking about your box, in an attempt to figure out possible uses. That's when I realized that you have a 21, and a 17, which are both great boats. I'm interested to hear how the dagger board location on the 21 effects it, but that's a different subject. So I guess today's questi...

Re: TSC Heavy-Duty Poly Utility Storage Box, 44 inch
Hey Franklin, I don't mean to sound like a smart ass, as I occasionally do, but my honest question is, what can you put in a 44" box? I guess light gear and such, but my beams and sails and assorted poles are 9' minimum. Again, don't take it the wrong way, I just want to know? Maybe I'm missing...

Re: What are the benefits of a self tacking jib?
When I put the self tacking system on mine, I followed the diagram that Tom described, with one exception, I missed one block, I made it 3:1. Foolishly I didn't think it would make a difference. I couldn't pull the clew in, at all. The traveler car ran back and forth on the track and the amount of t...

Re: Americas Cup
With every sport there is always someone who has to build a better mouse trap. Whether it works or not is a different question. If somebody wants to spend that much on such a mouse trap, then more power to them. I like my SuperCat the way it is. Sailing it by myself usually poses a challenge to my l...

Re: Sailing in big surf with onshore wind
Bill,
Thanks, that's what I needed to know.
I was mainly concerned with coming in, as I have seen a catastrophe or two in that situation, but you pointed out the tricky part of getting out. That's something I hadn't given as much thought to.

Beach cruising
I have been contemplating the term "beach cat" for a while now. I have been basically a fresh water sailor with the supercat and have had opposing thoughts about the beach. The thought being that waves can really mess up a boat when coming in the wrong way. Well, I live in fl. The beach is...

Re: Just Wanted to Say Hello
Hello Jay, If your in central fl, a great place to go is lake Monroe. It's a pretty good size lake with a nice ramp and plenty of room to set up, depending on what day of the week you go. The ramp is nice but I would still use a set of cat trax, they're so much easier, but maybe that's just my opini...

Re: Bridle Foils??
Matt, I can see your point about the bridal foil. That being said, the next maybe irrelevant. I look at that picture and am envious. I wish I could spend moments like that with my dad ... !!! Assuming that's Bill and Eric After thinking about it, envy is a bad choice of words. Admiration is more fit...

Re: Foil Boats, Which Way From Here?
Bill, Ok, now I understand the difference. I was thinking of the occasional times when the boat was not completely up on the foils and most of the boards would be submerged. At that point I assumed they would give a lot more drag then waves and spray. By the "French ditch" do you mean the ...

Re: Foil Boats, Which Way From Here?
That's a lot of surface area. Drag is drag, whether its vertical or horizontal. We were talking about .5 sq ft being a big difference with foil area. When you add 2 or 3 ft to the board, then look at how much more sustained wind it will take to keep it up. Sailing on the river, I rarely see a consta...
