Re: Roller furling jib line tie off where??
I have a snorkel. Definitely tie off around the jib. I've never had a problem with a plastic jam cleat getting rope burn. They don't chafe the line, they're light. inexpensive, and don't hurt near as much if you get thrown onto one. That's why they exist. That's why I use them where I see fit.

Re: Roller furling jib line tie off where??
My cleat is a plastic jam cleat out at the front corner of the tramp. I put one on each side just cause I was into it that day. A lot of boats have a cleat on the front crossbar. I wouldn't recommend one on the mast. There's enough going on there already and mast rotation might give you a problem.

Re: Supercat 17 Purchase Advice Needed
Looks clean, a little on the pricey side. 3k is where you want to be after you've bought all that gear from Tom that the boat is going to need.
The inspection ports in the transoms indicate that the gudgeons needed re bolting at some point.

Re: Outboard Motor Mount
Matt,
It balances just above that patch of black velcro.
Am I going to roll the cross beam off the boat?
Thanks, Geoff

The battery and throttle live on deck. The end of the cantilever is about 5'-6"
The motor weighs 21lb w/o battery.

RIP Bill Roberts
Bill's passing is sad news indeed! I always enjoyed his commentary. To tread on his broad area of expertise was an invitation to a well researched broadside. He will be missed.

Re: Main Sheet/traveler Cleat Issues
You should be able to set the angle of the cam cleat so you can snap the sheet out quickly. You might consider inverting the cam cleat. This might compromise your ability to lock in the main sheet. but hey, what are your priorities? On the stock traveler there is no angle adjustment to the cam cleat...

Downhaul for the Squaretop.
Does anyone have a picture and /or drawing with dimensions of the mainsail downhaul? I have the not to scale drawing. I searched but did not find. Re: Proper reeving of rudder lines?
I tried the reverse line trick. It worked but brought the rudders down really hard. I will look into this further this winter.

Re: Outboard Motor Mount
Dan, Thanks for the offer. I bought the Cheeta SC mount that was in The BeachCats classifieds. I'm wondering if I could bank up some smaller batteries, seal them up in PVC pipe and slip them into the front crossbeam for an out of the way battery location. Then I could use a trolling motor. There are ...

Re: Outboard Motor Mount
I know I'm reviving an old post. When I searched Outboard Motor Mount on this forum I got "no results" When I Googled it I got this thread. Does anybody use a Cheeta motor mount? If so, how do you like it. I am thinking of mounting a Torqueedo on my 15. Has anyone mounted one on the front ...

Re: Raising the mast
I single hand my SC15 mast up on a regular basis.
Perhaps the shrouds are set too tight.
Mine are pinned in the top hole.

Re: Raising the mast
Two people should be able to walk up a SC15 mast. Did you have the Heyfield levers on the side stays open?
Use the trap wires to stop side to side sway. Don't let the mast rotate.
