After spending much of the afternoon weed wacking and getting nasty with three large wasp nests, (they lost by the way) in my trailers cross bars and SC15 hitch. I was able to focus on my goal. All masked off Ready to start the fun!!!

Well that's where it stands right now. Primed and ready for the color. My Wagner power painter is working amazingly well and having no issues handling the two part epoxy paint. I am excited to get the color on this project.

So after playing hooky for a few weekends. The primer coat is ready for working. I went and weed wacked my way to the boat, AGAIN
100_0019.JPG
and got her down of the horses peeled off the stripe of tape I left on all that time. Washed all the bee poop off with marine boat wash, wet and dry sanded the primer coat with 600 grit paper as per awl grip instructions. Put her back on the horses worked out the few runs in the primer I had and other flecks of dust that got into the paint.

100_0022.JPG
Then I gave her a good acetone wipe down then a tack cloth wipe followed by another acetone wipe. Masked it all off.

Ok so after letting the AwlGrip Snow white cure for a week it was time to get the red on. Wow this was a challenge as the wind was blowing and that made handling the first sheet of masking paper a test of patients :? :? . After that was on it was pretty simple. I got a late start but the masking was off by mid night and there were a few imperfections from my part and not the product. So here it is.....you should be able to get a good idea where I am going with it from here. All that's left is the back. I will roll and tip that on. Finish up the Hard ware install. Tramp and decals. Goal to get it on the water for a shake down before the 24th.

So this is where I left it. All the chain plates are back on. The tramp rails are ready to go on. I found several screw heads that were messed up so I needed to get to West Marine for a few and to get the striping for the other decals.

Starboard Bow This is much better rotated but it will not allow it here.

Looking good! What's with the outer starboard hull? is that leftover tape? or did it peel the paint off when you took off the tape?

Ok another successful weekend. So the painting is over. The black did not come out as good as I hoped but I think it was be cause of the wrong mix. I did not realize I did not get brushing reducer. I went ahead and just used some of the spray reducer that I had plenty of. Also this was my first attempt at rolling and tipping.

The first pics are of the red dried and set. Enjoy the rest

When I left last time the dagger boards were hung on my SC15 mast. Well there was this little storm that came through and blew them further down the mast. There they banged against the SC15 trailer hitch. Crap!!! Pictures are too large to post so I will try to get them retaken and post them here later.

So a late start only left time for the masking before the temps, due point and light were out of tolerances for painting. That meant all I got done was the masking.
