Around The Island of Barbados Race Results

Post by Matt Haberman » February 24th, 2012, 3:40 pm

Every year the Yacht Club of The Island of Barbados hosts an "Around The Island of Barbados Race" and it is an anything goes race. The boats can be any configuration, any size over 25ft, any and all types. It is a reverse order start race. The RC30 must start 4 hours behind the first monohulls that start at 8:00 AM.

This year the 20 year old RC30 was in the hands of new ownership. It is owned by three young men, a partnership. (How about that, A PARTNERSHIP?")

In the race this year the new team sailed very conservativly, no spinnaker downwind, which is at least half the race. They broke the old elapsed time record for the race. and set a new record at 4 hours and 30 minutes. So far in the history of the race around Barbados, each preceeding owner has won the race and set a new record. The word is out that this new record will be hard to beat and will stand for many years.

Congratulations to the new team, the New RC30 Owners In Barbados, what a TEAM!
