hull supports for trailering

Post by jbshu24 »

Are there good hull cradles out there or should we make our own? I have an SC17 and the trailer has rollers on the bottoms and angled ones on the sides. The side ones pinch the hulls and can leave an indentation. Fortunately the boat has not been trailered much at all.

I was thinking of using closed cell foam pads on wood planks and strapping the hulls down to that.

thanks for any info.

Jon,

Your idea of wood covered in foam is a good idea, much better situation then the rollers. We used to lay a 2x6 flat and put approx. 2" of closed cell foam on it and then cover it in carpet, this works pretty good.
We also manufacture some very nice fiberglass cradles that were designed for the 22 hull but also fit the 17 hull quite well near the rear beam, it will also work for the front cradles although it does not fit quite as well on the 17.
