What size/type line for SC17 Halyards and sheets?

Post by clintopher »

I just bought an SC17 and it needs halyards and a main sheet. I figure since I'm buying all that I might as well replace the jib sheet. What do you guys recommend for line size and type?

Thanks in advance,
Clint

Clint,

Typically we 1/4" (6mm) low strecth line for the main halyard. Make sure you get low strecth or it will be difficult to raise the sail.

For the mainsheet we are using 5/16" and on the jib sheet 1/4" .

Clint,

No, we use 1/8" or smaller low stretch for the jib halyard line that you attach to the jib halyard wire.

Thanks again Matt.

I was about to order some rope and realized I'm missing some info. My brain works, or doesn't, funny sometimes so forgive me.

What lengths do I need for:

Main Halyard
Jib Halyard
Main Sheet
Jib Sheet

Also, what size and what length do I need for the rudders? They need replacing too.
