THe fat lady sings a different tune..............

Post by havliii »

Will ENTZ fill a legal protest? The Oracle Stability Assist Software was quite possibly why the boat suddenly found a bunch of speed. This fits with what Bill said previously, 'that the boats have outpaced the sailors ability to sail them!' ENTZ may challenge the legality of this since in the 'spirit of the rules' the sailors are supposed to sail the boats!

The courts may decide the AC after all....

How poetic it would be for "Sir" Ainslie to wrestle the Auld Mug away from Larry in 2-3 years and take it back to England.

http://www.theguardian.com/sport/2013/s ... ericas-cup

"The struggling American team reacted by bringing Ainslie on board in place of the tactician John Kostecki and he helped to bring about a remarkable turnaround, culminating in Wednesday's victory in San Francisco Bay which gave them a 9-8 win."

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/others ... -down.html

“I really hope he (Larry) means it. He has a great opportunity to transform the America’s Cup and the sport of sailing. The next cup cannot rely on sugar daddies.”

Any misconception this AC 2013 win was for or about 'America' is a gawdamn disgrace.

Let's just stick to learning from Bill and leave the Cup alone. ??

All the mods to the Oracle boat were under the supervision of the Measurement Committee. NZ would have to prove illegal modifications. I hope Oracle learned their lesson already.
When hasn't the Cup been underwritten by "sugar daddies"?
Sir Ben and all the rest are professional free agents. They'll follow the money and I can't blame them.
I enjoyed the hell out of that Cup. I hope they do it again.

As in flying, the planes have as well out paced the pilots. Bill can agree to this that there is not a flight control surface on most jets that does not share the same sort of software. We call it a dampener, be it a roll, pitch or yaw. But is not why or how they beat TENZL. Yes the boat was faster but TENZL made several errors tactical wise at low speeds that TOUSA took advantage of. Dampeners are only good at high speeds on the foils and I do recall a very low wind day that TENZL was crushed in the second race. The sailors still "sailed" the boat on TOUSA more than on TENZL as they had a SELF tacking jib(auto jib) tack assist auto trim jib.......Hmmm. TOUSA did not have one of those.
