Alligator Leary

Hello Wood Man,

I have a few alligator stories to share. I lived in Gainesville, Florida for ten years. That’s right I am a “gator” meaning University of Florida alumnus.

Alligators are not very aggressive animals. Over the years there have been a few alligator attacks on humans in Florida. These ...

Matt,

Thank you for your reply. My SC-17 does not have a ginpole or ginpole attachment. What parts would I need and approximately how much would it cost to hava a similar system for my SC-17?

The EZ-Step ginpole system is sold for approximately $160 plus S&H and requires the use of a trailer winch ...

Best Technique for Raising Mast

Greetings to All,

I recently purchased a 1984 SC-17 and have yet to get it in the water. I tried to raise the mast by myself and aborted before I damaged either myself or the boat. I am 5'10", 185 lbs and in decent shape for a 50 year old. I read the owners manual several times and it states I ...

Dan,

Thanks for the reply. The SC-17 owners must have some interesting sailing stories to tell. What is their next catamaran to tempt fate?

Do you think the hull was poorly constructed and designed or was it abused and ready to fail? If the price is right, I may be in the market for some spare ...

Dan,

I hope no one was injured. Sorry to see the broken SC-17. Did you notice any stress cracks or soft areas in the hull before it failed? Did the hull hit the beach at an odd angle? Do you plan on repairing the damage or parting out the SC-17? How much does a new hull cost?

I recently purchased ...

On my SC-17 the sister clip is attached to both jib blocks using two small shackels. The yellow rope is missing. Do I need to purchase a rope to separte the jib blocks? If so, how long should the rope be?
