Stay measures

Matt....I assume that 5 degree is optimum as provided by step. Is there an archive showing stay lengths for the older SC with standard levers etc. ? Also fore/bridle w. or w.o. furler ? If one was to add furler to SC 17 I assume you would use the modern small Harken combo and wondered if you have me...

Does rake at ball apply to all SC products ? Does bottom hole at lever also apply to all SC stays ?

Matt....without separating hulls, I assume the new forward track and old aft track are removed from beams, and slid onto mating tramp boltropes after the tramp has been threaded thru the 2 side tracks ? I assume if you want to add the self tacking hardware to the older SC model, the tramp you speak ...

SC 17 Sails and Tramp

Looking for any decent mainsails and / or trampolines. Boat has had the Harken travellor added with the rear luff tube on forward side of aft beam. I understand the older "wrap" style tramps are no longer available so what other attach points does one need for new or replacement styles ? I...

SC 17

Hey Bob.....was that you up on Traverse Bay during the "A" Cat Nats ? I have also acquired an 84 SC17 recently and will be sailing it out of Traverse City. Most of your Chicago guys come here in the summer anyway, so consider coming up or leaving boat . I'm looking for replacement sails bu...

" Not Getting Any Younger, Right " ?

Mike, others Your race accounts make a good case for more science "above". Countless pitching in those winds, crys out for masts and sails with a GRM (gust response mechanism). Softer, yielding rigs as exploited by modern skiff sailors, will always be faster in these conditions. Effective ...

Pole Length and Asymmetrics

Bill and others I agree the projection of the kite is paramount. Longer pole lengths should fall within the favorable limits of the hull's CLR, while maximising distance from the main's draft. This will allow offwind capability on deeper angles. The sail cut with larger mid-girth dimensioning will h...

Hello Bill and others. I've enjoyed my SC17 many long years and appreciate that shared lift thru low drag, hard chine hull shape and hi lift foils, has made this a boat to enjoy. Recently, multi-classes adopted skiff derived asymmetrics, most as ill concieved "me too" add ons without an ey...

And then there was ice

Tom and others I've just signed on and have to say Minnesota ice is best. As for sailing, remind your readers we have these things called ICEBOATS. Any Cat sailor would die for a ride in a DN. Hey and what about those action sports like ice fishing ? Anyway as for North and South, when the sun comes...
