Re: Removing hull stripe tape....
Thanks everyone.....I'll let y'all know which method I used and how it turned out. I took my daughter-in-law sailing on my SC-19 two weekends ago and she couldn't believe a boat could go that fast just powered by the wind. Wait till she tries hiking out on a trap!

Removing hull stripe tape....
After finishing up rebuilding my SC19 over winter, we're enjoying the heck out of this fast, fast boat. I want to make her look nicer, though, and cannot find any product yet that will remove the faded, cracked hull strip tape. I bought some decal remover at an auto parts store but it didn't work ...

Re: Need photo of shroud extender setup....
Problem solved........Tom Haberman at Aquarius Sail took care of my confusion with a very clear set of photos. Thanks Tom, and also thanks for the excellent and speedy service on my recent order of parts for the boat. Wish more businesses operated that way.

Need photo of shroud extender setup....
Does anyone have a clear photo of how the shroud extender and cables are rigged and attach to the boat? I'm perplexed how the jumper cable is supposed to work when the shroud extender is released.... Thanks!

Diamond spreaders necessary?
I have an SC 19 project boat I'm working on with no diamond spreaders on the mast. I see a previous post that this is the same mast (28-footer) as on the SC 17 that used no diamond spreaders. I'm not a cat racer, and have no plans to be competitive, so how necessary is it to have diamond spreaders ...

Re: Fixin' a hull seam crack....
Thanks guys for all the suggestions. I tried an experiment the last couple of days and it seems to be working. I stuffed heavy paper towels into the crack, leaving about 6 inches hanging down where air can reach it. The setup seems to be wicking a lot of water out of the foam, where it evaporates in ...

Fixin' a hull seam crack....
When I bought my 1983 SC 19, I knew it had a small crack at the bottom of the forward port hull, right along the seam. I did some exploring yesterday and discovered it's actually a 4-inch-long crack that a previous owner had filled in with Bondo and gel-coated over. I cleaned out the Bondo with a ...
