Oregon Cascades Waldo Lake

I was able to get to 2 higher elevation lakes over the last month and shake down the SC17. Waldo Lake, 5400' is one of the purest lakes in the world not to far down the list from Crater Lake. They finally banned internal combustion engines but have a speed limit of 10 mph. I used to have a map that ...

Re: $250 and a long drive

Kevin, So that's what the one peice beam looks like. I had to stare at it for a bit. The curved track is for the self tacking jib! My sail is in excellent shape other than having been folded for some time. I hope that hasn't ruined it. Should I get battens in it now and roll it up? I was thinking of...

Re: Tiller Crossbar

I can't get that for you since my computer is down and maybe permanently. I did have to chuckle though. I owned a SC19 for 10 years and am still not sure about the shroud extenders(not the hyfield levers) ..as when do you use them?

Re: New Supercat 17 purchase

Havliii That makes sense. Who knows I may panic and want them on. The mast does seem less stiff then the 19. Mark looks like you may have installed pad eyes on the front beam for your tramp..it really cleans it up. Hey I used to own one but never understood the shroud extender system. I understand t...

Re: $250 and a long drive

Hey Kevin, enjoyed reading your posts on your SC20 restoration. I need to wait for a few months as I am taking some time off and need to save for future upgrades.... besides figuring out what I will end up doing. It sounds like going with one piece crossbeams are in order. I assume because my beams ...

Re: New Supercat 17 purchase

I do have a question about trapeze handles. They look like you can't replace them unless you get the wire re-swaged??
Has anyone replaced theirs with a 2 piece handle? I actually have a swaging tool...just haven't seen it in a few years.

Re: New Supercat 17 purchase

Mark, Thank you. I owned a Supercat 19 for 10 years so I was familiar with the correct set up of the side stay/shroud extenders and where they mount and fortunately they were included. Although it was a jumbled mess of stays, lines and trapeze wires. I removed them and are now properly stashed away....

$250 and a long drive

Or is that a long drive and $250 and gas money and future missing parts funding. 8-) Couldn't help but put it on here since I will be back on the water flying hulls soon. This will a winter project. Looking for ward to ordering missing stuff and making changes. I was thinking that ...I used to play ...

Re: New Supercat 17 purchase

I guess I am asking questions that really have no answer since whoever did this was changing the intended dynamics of the rigging. It seems the extenders attached at the end of the boom and 1/4 way up the mast could deter mast rotation. I am wondering what the cam cleat on the hull might have been u...

New Supercat 17 purchase

I recently purchased a SC 17 that has some things installed that are not factory. I was wondering if anyone has ideas why they they may have done so. OOps My picture file is too big and I have to head into work soon. I'll have to learn how to downsize the photo and post it next week (Tuesday). Meanw...
