Re: How tight should jib luff be?
Rex,
Typically we will pull another 1" of tension into the jib luff after the wrinkles go away. This is done without any mainsheet tension. When you sheet in on the mainsheet it will stretch the luff of the jib and the wrinkles will go away. If you still have some wrinkles along the luff you can ...

How tight should jib luff be?
I recently adjusted the front stay to correct some weather helm issues and now am unable to have a nice tight luff on my jib.
Is it the stay or the jib halyard wire that is designed to keep the tension and how loose is unacceptable?
Weather helm is much better btw...

Re: Jib furler line cleat question
Perfect - I have a leftover Ronstan micro block w/fairlead that I'll press into service.
You mention screws but you also mention nylock nuts - have you got it bolted to the beam or just screwed in using SS metal screws?
If the former - how did you get the nuts all the way into the beam to connect ...

Jib furler line cleat question
My jib furler line typically just drags in the water aimlessly when the jib is unfurled - there doesn't appear to be a cleat set aside for it on the forward beam furled or unfurled. Could someone post up or send me a pic of their setup so that I can see where it should go?
Thanks Rex
Thanks Rex

Re: Help ID'ing and finding 6:1 block parts?
Thanks for the response Matt.
What kind of load bearing do you recommend for the old SC17 sail? I really don't want to spend Harken money on a replacement if at all possible so I've been looking at the http://garhauermarine.com/catalog_process.cfm?cid=92 Garhauer 30-28 as a substitute. They claim ...

Help ID'ing and finding 6:1 block parts?
It's highly unlikely that these are OEM Supercat parts but... But just in case they are and anyone has a line on small parts for them any help would be appreciated. I was out in 10kts yesterday and the swivel that the shackle attaches to parted company with the block. Of course it had to be the ...

Source for batten caps / tips
One of my batten caps is mangled - the one that slips into the batten pocket at the luff. I'm struggling to find ANYTHING online that looks like it will work except this one: http://bainbridgebattens.com/node/4

Re: Maiden voyage of SC17 Cats Knackers
Thanks for that Matt. Sounds straightforward enough.
I've been trying to source a new gasket for the inspectin cover. Any suggestions on that?
For now I'm just going to put a bead of silicone around the hatch and hope it suffices.

Maiden voyage of SC17 Cats Knackers
Took the new (to me) 1981 SC 17 out this morning for her shakedown/maiden voyage. I was very impressed by her manners. I have a few niggling adjustments to do

SC17 roller furling setup and other rigging questions
Hi all - new SC17 owner and I'm still wrestling with the rigging on my roller furling jib.
Does anyone have photos of a SC17 setup - I'm having trouble figuring out where to attach the tack of the sail and the ensuing halyard thimble. It seems like I'd have to cover the whole of the stay adjuster ...
