Kevin,
Can you give any more details on how you made an AC compressor into a vacuum pump? Picture from your thread:

Re: SuperCat 19 Resurrection
I had not seen that - looks great though!Kevin Keller wrote: ↑August 9th, 2021, 10:59 am Maybe you saw a post of my old SC20 I did some hull work on. You can see how I did my repairs and it might give you some ideas. The picture order ended being reversed in each posting.

Re: SuperCat 19 Resurrection
I documented a H16 hull repair over on the beachcats, and I think this repair would probably work just as well on the SC hull. As Kevin Keller said, I'd definitely make an inner skin using the other hull as a mold. https://www.thebeachcats.com/forums/viewtopic/topic/18538 I may have some of this in ...

Re: SuperCat 19 Resurrection
Excellent - glad to see I'm not the only nut job on the forums here! I'm going through a similar exercise on a Hobie 16, though I've elected to bond foam core onto a rebuilt inner skin and then glass over. I am looking forward to getting my SC17 going. I think one of the great things about the H16 i...

Re: SuperCat 19 Resurrection
Good luck! Nothing like a good project to keep you busy. I'm doing some major surgery on a H16 right now. Will be glad to have that behind me and get my SC17 going. The 16 is a lot of fun but seems to have no where near enough flotation in the hulls.

Re: New SC17 owner
Welcome! I'm also a new SC17 owner. I'll be working on the restoration after I finish some of my other projects.

Re: Future Supercat 17 owner, Poplar Grove IL
Although I do not have that model I am pretty sure it was supposed to be an aluminum tube. Not too had to get a replacement. Were you able to remove the bolts? I would think the half moon spacers will still work. Is that and RV kit? Kevin Hey Kevin, You are right, I can replace that tube from my lo...

Re: Possible new SuperCat owner
Thanks! So the boom batten is just wrapped up and nothing is in the mast track below the reefing point - do I understand this correctly?
Over at thebeachcats.com they are saying that nobody reefs cats unless they are doing endurance races or something. Is it worth having reef points?

Reef points
My original Supercat had reef points in the sail - I seem to recall I ordered it that way. The logo on the sail looks original. Let us know if you buy it! And then take a week and read everything on this forum... Sorry to revive an old thread. Tyler, how does the reef points work with the boom batt...

Re: Supercat 17 damage on the top of the hull
Thanks gahamby for the reply. I am pretty sure that one of the prior owners sustained the damage during a hurricane. This boat has been owned by a series of Sikorsky (or former Sikorsky) engineers for a long time. The outboard part of the damage looks crushed - like the outside mold line is pressed ...

Supercat 17 damage on the top of the hull
Yesterday I noticed a dent in the top of the starboard hull. I first noticed a dent in the extrusion that hold the tramp. Then I realized the top of the hull looks pushed down on the outboard side of the extrusion and the inboard side seems to have a crack. Curious what the board thinks of this - sh...

Re: Future Supercat 17 owner, Poplar Grove IL
Thanks Tyler! My boom batten is an aluminum tube with a wooden splice. I assume this is not stock. Is it supposed to be an aluminum tube all the way through or something else? broomstick.jpg The blocks that hold the beams to the hulls are corroded. I'd like to replace them someday but I wonder if I ...

Re: Future Supercat 17 owner, Poplar Grove IL
Made it all the way home. We drove about 3000 miles in total, and each major leg (Illinois->Florida and back) was about 1450 miles. This was in a 2000 Buick Century we bought for my youngest son for $200 a little over a year ago. It got about 30 mpg on the way down, and ranged from 15-18 MPG on the ...

Re: Future Supercat 17 owner, Poplar Grove IL
Thanks for the welcome! I still have a lot to read and learn. I sailed my foam boats a lot this season, all the way through November. I bought a wetsuit to extend the season. I'm ready to move up. Next week I'm headed to pick up my boat. My buddy has replaced the tires & bearings, and done some ...
