Re: New Zealand AC72, What I Saw Today

So back to the foils... Can we stick some foils on our boats? Or, are we going to have to start from the ground up with regard to the forces generated by these foils? I would expect that the loads on the hulls and cross beams would be significantly increased, is it a matter of beefing up the hulls, ...

Buzzelli Regatta

This is a great event that I hope "we" can get a big turn out of Supercats 15, 17, 19 20, 21 and the ARC 22's. Right now we have a RC27 committed and Bill Roberts with his RC30 committed to going. We have another RC27 in the wings trying to make it happen as well. http://www.regattanetwork...

Re: Elliptical top and the AC72

What's up with the Nacra F20c? Seems like they pi**ed away a ton of money on R and D to come up with a boat that is only rated one tenth of one percent faster than a Tornado, 57.9 against 58 for the Tornado. (That's the only number I could find on the F20c.) So what in the world is up with that? Th...

Re: Supercat ARC RC Target Races

Bruiser....Yes I feel the same about can racing and look for the longer type runs with my stock SC19. I would really like to try my hand at a few of these races/runs in Florida and Texas. I would be interested in seeing a picture of your gennaker and knowing what you had to beef up to make this hap...

Re: Supercat ARC RC Target Races

(by the way we backed into winning this one, but that is another long story) RC27 How about telling us this story? I would like to hear more about the race and the conditions. I am sure others on this board would as well. Regards, Andy The Around the Island Race was a bit of mess this year but ende...

Re: 19 for sale in my area

A power boater will drop thousands on gas every year. We should look at sails the same way. Budget thousands a year for sails and sails actually become pretty cheap. Your metaphor is absurd. Sails=engine on a sail boat not the fuel, wind=fuel on a sailboat and that is free. Oh good grief! Then neve...

Re: 19 for sale in my area

Personally it looks like a good deal to me. When you consider how much work it takes to get a boat in good shape, that is a small price. To me sails are easy to replace but getting a basic boat in good shape is the most important thing. I am assuming he did a nice job. What would a new comparable b...

Re: Beach Cat Spinnakers

So if we are looking for larger, flatter jib type of sail why not put a large roller furling jib on the end of a spinnaker pole? This solution would make management of the sail much easier as well as provide the larger surface area required of a down wind sail. Just a thought.... You can. Check out...

Re: Supercat ARC RC Target Races

Hi Mac, I was including all of the Supercats. I think all of the supercats are more comfortable on any race. Comfort meaning more stable and resistant to heavy air pitch poling which are a consideration on any long distance race. The big hulls make the surecats much more comfortable to sail in margi...

Supercat ARC RC Target Races

OK, so I just finished sailing the "Around the Island Race" in Ft Walton Beach, Fl on our RC27. We just completed getting a new sail inventory so it was a great chance to test the waters. (by the way we backed into winning this one, but that is another long story) My point for posting this...
