Re: New Zealand AC72, What I Saw Today

Bill the H boat was a great learning boat and helped me to decide if I wanted to stay in the sport. There were lots of spare parts to fix what I might have busted and they were affordable. Rigging, sails and tramps. I am sure there have been a few folks hurt on those and ALL other boat names. Comes ...

Re: Buzzelli Regatta

Matt, Tom, or Bill do you know of any other races or runs out there ?? The more options we have the better we can plan one to all meet at.

Re: New Zealand AC72, What I Saw Today

What is your choice Grog Man? Well Bill ....since I am a commoner and one of the many I made my choice. I started 4 years ago with a 1970's era H14T that I put together and learned to rig, sail and repair. There were second hand parts a plenty out there on the web and in a pinch most H16 parts work...

Re: Installing foot straps?

Straps are a bad thing and I can talk from experience. Last season I had my foot under the hiking strap on the SC19 and took a knock down in a gust. As I slid down the deck my leg slid under the strap and I was pinned just below the knee on the tramp. All of my weight on the one knee trying to bend ...

Re: Buzzelli Regatta

Lets see if we can start planning one for next year and give every one enough lee way. This is a GREAT IDEA and I would hate to see it die.

Re: Hobie 16

Instead of a second hook we have done this with a wire pendent attached to the top of the mainsail. The halyard ring connects to the end of this pendent and still hooks at the top of the mast. To get the ring to un-hook easily we tie a small diameter (1/8") piece of low stretch line to the rin...

Another day on the RIVHA

WOOOO HOOOO what a day yesterday was on the Potomac. The wind built nicely to a full on blow by the end of the day !! 2 boats (SC15 and SC19) and 3 folks !!! We had a bit of rain but not even close to what was at the RRR this year. An early lap around Shark Tooth Island on the SC19 resulting in goin...

Re: New Zealand AC72, What I Saw Today

Well it is getting exciting. So controlling the angle of attack on the foil is what you are talking about Bill. Do we not already do that by shifting crew weight for and aft to drive the hulls deeper at the bow?? That would be like the Concord used to do by shifting fuel during flight for pitch trim...

Re: New Zealand AC72, What I Saw Today

Ouch Bill.... I was not bashing you or belittling any thing you have accomplished Bill and I apologize if you took it that way. Your posts here are invaluable to us that come here looking for tips and advice on how to make our 1980's era boats the best they can be. Most of them have no manuals any l...

Now it looks like he has the same rudder plan as wonder woman's plane had. No body armor just an ejection seat.

Re: Buzzelli Regatta

Bruiser... I am sailing with Havliii that weekend as well. We need to plan a little further out. Lets start looking at some thing next year and really work on rallying the troops. It can be done with a bit more planning and word of mouth. Don't let this idea die though. It would be great to have thi...
