Re: Bridle Foils??
Dan, There are a lot of reasons we have stayed away from the bridal foil. For starters there are really no advantages of the bridle foil approach over a well rigged spinnaker pole with pelican striker, but on the flip side there are numerous disadvantages. Two main disadvantages are weight and drag....

Re: Outboard Motor Mount
Here are some pictures of what we have been supplying recently. These mounts are on the 22 and would work great on a 20 also. They are designed to be used with the Torqueedo electric motor, they do not raise and lower as it is not necessary with this motor. Overall they work well. They are available...

Re: Dolphin striker wire tension
Bill, I just noticed that too, and I agree that the end cap is rotated in the incorrect orientation.
Jon Drew, that end cap should be rotated so the hole (which is off center) is at the highest possible position.

Re: Upper wind limit for S20
Gene,
The mast base is the same on all of the SuperCat and ARC products. I would however caution putting the 17 mast on a 20. The 17 mast does not have spreaders and would be marginal in strength when considering the added righting moment that the 12'beam on the 20 produces.

Re: Another Righting Thread!
Kevin, Sorry for the delay, I missed your question when you originally posted it. First off I like Bill's solution of not tipping over :D It has been a few years since I have tipped over on the 22 and overall I haven't done it that many times, but every time I have climbed up on top to release the l...

Re: America's Cup
Bill had an unfair advantage on the answer to the question of when the Self-Tacking Jibs first appeared on the ARC products... But here is the answer I was going to give: The RC-27 was first to have the Self-tacking jib back in 1985. When the ARC-22 (SuperCat 22) was introduced in 1991 it came stock...

Re: America's Cup
In reference to ENTZ's self-tacking jib I came across this quote by one of the commentators yesterday: "We don't yet have these self tacking setups on modern boats"... So does anyone know what model the self-tacking jib first appeared on the ARC product line.... and bonus question ...

No, the forum host wont allow video. Best bet is to add it to YouTube and then post the link here.

Mac,
That looks like a normal setup. I would suggest calling Tom tomorrow and he can explain the procedure.

Re: Hobie 16
Bill,
Agreed, the hard braid luff rope is a must.
I have never witnessed it myself, but I have heard of issues where the finger of the Hook gets inside of the shackle hoop next to the head board and then rotating the mast doesn't help much.

Re: Hobie 16
GAHamby & Bill, Instead of a second hook we have done this with a wire pendent attached to the top of the mainsail. The halyard ring connects to the end of this pendent and still hooks at the top of the mast. To get the ring to un-hook easily we tie a small diameter (1/8") piece of low stre...

Re: Cost of a new 20
The first SC20 was built in either 1978 or 1979, Bill would have to confirm that. According to NADA guides the last year of production was 1991. However I think the last boat was built in 1990, a year before the first 22 was built.
I believe the SC20 was ~$10K in 1985.

Check the mast rotation with the levers closed. Here are a few previous posts on this topic. http://owners.aquarius-sail.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=467&p=1646&hilit=mast+rotation#p1646 http://owners.aquarius-sail.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=107&p=354&hilit=mast+rotatio...
