Re: Supercat 15 Refurb
I had the Hooter set up on the boat, but the foot hit the bridles and it just didn't work. The pole is so low that I couldn't get clearance. I've been wanting to try a spin, anyway. I don't think I'll have to reinforce the beams. Hadn't occurred to me!? I'm more worried about the mast, but SC masts ...

Re: Supercat 15 Refurb
I'm a little bipolar when it comes to boats. One day, I want a big one, the next, a single hander. I had been working my way up to a 20 and Bill put his up for sale, so I jumped on it. Turns out is was too difficult for my situation. It had solid beams, so you had to take it apart to transport it--t...

Re: Supercat 15 Refurb
I don't have pics right now, but I'll get them soon. I bought the tramp tracks from Aquarius first before I went with the self-tacker. I got the tramp from Slo Sails and I'm pretty happy with it. I wanted to go with a self tacking system like an Inter 20, but wanted to use a straight track like I ha...

Re: Supercat 15 Refurb
If you add a traveler, you need to have a tramp that is not the wrap-around style on the rear beam--just a mental note. Mine came with a track, but no car, so I had to find one. I bought a new tramp from SloSails that is a 3 piece like a Hobie. I installed a track on the front beam because I was goi...

Re: Supercat 15 Refurb
I still have the blue jib, I just switched to the self-tacking system and got a white jib. I IMd you my number--call me with questions. I have the forestay and bridles for the jib system, but I don't have the sidestays with the righting system. I called Aquarius and they were nice enough to give me ...

Re: Supercat 15 and why did I ever sell it
I got my 15 for $300, but it was just hulls, mast and beams. Then, transport from Texas to VA, new sails, new tramp, rigging, blocks, steering. Could have bought a new 27 by now! Of course, as soon as I bought mine, they started coming out of the woodwork. They have been going for $1000-1500 with th...

Spin questions SC 15
Matt, I'm still working on rigging the 15 with a spin-- Where do you attach the mast tang? I currently have one about a third of the way up the mast between the main tang and the head. The boat came that way, so I'm hoping I am lucky and it is in the right place. Where do you attach the control bloc...

Rudder repair question
The kick-up mechanism was a little tight on my castings, so it took off a chunk of the notch on the top of the rudders. I also need to repair some ships.
What are the rudders made of--what should I use to patch them?? Are they polyester/gel or resin?

Re: Tuning tips??
I made some changes to the rig, but I still think there is more to it. I shortened the sidestays and lengthened the bridles so the mast is between 4 and 5 degrees. It takes a little effort to close the hayfield lever on the second sidestay, but the mast rotates freely up to 180 degrees. The wind was...

Re: Supercat in Hawaii??
That's a lot of boats in one area! What about the guy selling a Supercat 15 on Craigs in Hawaii? That would be a good one to get. I wish I would have done more research on catching a ride when I was there, but I was with a bunch of surfers and I would have lost out in the what-do-we-do-today game. I...

Supercat in Hawaii??
I vacationed in Hawaii two years ago and stayed in a house on Kaneohe bay between the Gilligan's Island set and the base. There was a Supercat (20??) moored below us and I was wondering who's it was--Kevin?? we rented a pontoon boat from the base and went out to sit on that sand bar in the middle of...

Re: Supercat 20 with Hooter!!
Yeah, Jason was a trooper with that boat. I guess I forgot about the forward buttons. I remember it having a track, but it has been a while. I ordered a track from Aquarius for my 15 and ordered a custom trampoline from SloSails. Kind of a weird name for a sailmaker, but the tramp is prety nice--and...
