Re: Sc15 hull repair

Sorry to hear of your misfortune. Matt or Tom are your sources for construction details. They might have a hull or a line on one. I have not seen an SC15 partout on the market. Post some pictures. Nothing brings out the replies like some pictures of fiberglass carnage. GH Linked is a discussion abou...

Re: Tramp track for forward beam ona 17

I did that to my 15. I got a used piece from Tom. I had tried a different piece that was less robust and the tramp pulled out at the ends. The product is called
Kedder Rail or Awning Rail

Re: Damage to upper leading edge of rudders?

Thanks again for the replies. I have taken the rudders apart any number of times. What you can observe about the position of the rollers in the down notch is limited, even with the springs, nuts and washers removed. I would have to "move" the pivot holes up about 1/16" for the rollers...

Re: Damage to upper leading edge of rudders?

Well I had a look at the rudders. I couldn't see down into the notch. I could slip a 24ga. shim down there. The rollers will spin but not freely. So there's a little room at the bottom of the notch. There is about 1/8" of room at the forward end of the notch. I think the impact occurs when pullin...

Matt, thanks for the reply.
I'll have to take a look at that.

Re: Damage to upper leading edge of rudders?

Kevin, Thanks for the reply. The rollers are the stock Aquarius replacements of recent vintage. I don't think upping the dia. of the rollers will solve the problem. It would tend to force the leading edge forward into the gudgeon on a constant basis. I am thinking of installing a rubber pad on the l...

Damage to upper leading edge of rudders?

I have sought but have not found. I'm working up a spare set of rudders. One had a fair amount of damage on the upper leading edge. This location is above the taper where the rudder impacts the lower gudgeon when the rudder rotates too far forward. This seems to be caused by play in the down positio...

I know I'm dredging up an old post, but would you show how you reversed the rigging for a single pull rudder down please.

Supercats rock!

Had my 15 out on the Rapahanock this week in perfect conditions. I still can't get the grin off. Nice boat, thanks Bill!

Re: America's Cup Speed Difference, US vs New Zealand

NZ just plain out sailed 'em. Their on foil tacks and jibes were flawless. The discipline was remarkable! They had the edge technically. NZ trimmed their wing hydraulically which seemed to give them a better shape. Using pedal power to pressurize the hydraulic system gave them, if you will, a leg up....

Re: Spring Races

What's the story with the wing? Is there one for the other side? Do you just pick the side for the prevailing tack? That was most awesome video!

Kevlar fabric tape on keels

My search turned up nothing. Has anyone put Kevlar fabric tape on their keels? The keels on my 15 are showing signs of wear. I've fared out the pits and scratches with 3M Vinyl Ester Marine Filler. Should I gel coat the area? I find myself beaching on some rough spots sometimes. Kevlar is hell to wo...

It's that extra little kick in NZ's foils.
