Re: Solo righting a SC17

i have an 82 sc17 with a sc19 main and no jib. i have not had an issue righting it but I'm 250. i throw a rope over the upper hull at the front beam and lean out. i have multiple loops in my righting line so as the boat comes up i can climb to keep my body out of the water. also i have yet to use th...

Re: mainsail solution

correct its a round bar in the the sail like a batten. i was unsure if i should call it a boom or a batten because my Battens are flat and this is round. ether way i still have the issue of the sail pushing past the mast when my sheet is in tight

Ok my SC17 does not come about.
i have tried in all types of winds and it completely stalls when i get headed into the wind.

Re: transoms

cool thanks for the tips

i was reading some of the post that came back from a search of transoms and it was talking about plastic pins for the rudders. mine are metal so i guess that is where the cracks are coming from. just another item to order. im glad i got this boat cheap.

Re: transoms

well before i go cutting into the hull. is there a way to tell if it really needs the repair. when i say cracks im not sure if they are all the way through they might just be in the gel coat.

transoms

when i purchased my sc17 there were some hairline cracks on both transoms. they are still small cracks but they are getting bigger. will i have to reinforce it from the inside. or can i add woven mat on the out side and wrap the corners? i would rather not cut an access port into the hull. i am just...

high wind sailing

the winds in my area tend to stay around 5-10 knots which are not bad but i don't lift hulls in this condition. by the way i have a main from a SC19 and no jib but occasionally we get days around 15 knots and gust are up to 25. which i love! as this thing loves this wind i can really cut upwind and ...

mainsail solution

i have a 82 SC17 that came with a sail from a SC19 so at full hoist the bolt rope at the boom is not in the track. so the boom always pushes past the mast. does anyone have a solution besides go get the right size sail. also the mast has no downhaul system. i though i might be able to control the bo...

Re: main sail coversion

i have a 82 sc17 and i am having the same issue with raising the sail. i am defiantly going to replace the sheaves and wire/rope halyard. but i often sail alone and trying to line up the sail with the track and pulling the halyard is a chore. how do you rig the prefeeder and where can i order it fro...
