Re: Sloppy tiller crossbar connection

Give me the material and the size and I can turn it for you.

Re: Sloppy tiller crossbar connection

I think there is enough room to bore it out. I don't think you would compromise the strength of it. I assume you use the plastic pins? You can always turn slightly larger pins.

Re: Sloppy tiller crossbar connection

When it comes to the sloppy pintles, I have thought about boring out the gudgeons to a slightly larger size and use a larger plastic rod for a pintle. I have a mill and lathe so I have considered it but mine are not yet loose enough for me to really worry about it.

Craig,
I must have missed your post regarding shimming the upper gudgeon, how thick was your gasket? Great idea!

Re: Bill Roberts!! Old Hull ID Numbers

Yes Franklin, it is a DISEASE in our government these days. Everyone wants a piece of everything to justify their jobs. Government just keeps growing... along with their reach. After hiking Kokohead a couple of days ago, my wife and I had lunch on one of the waterways out here. The DLNR was out in t...

Re: Bill Roberts!! Old Hull ID Numbers

Some of you with older boats like mine might want to read this. Sounds like I am not the only one that will have to deal with this. I have been corresponding with the USCG regarding the request to change my hull numbers. Start from the bottom. Sounds perfect. Make sure that you keep the state's lett...

Bill Roberts!! Old Hull ID Numbers

Bill, My SC20 was built circa 1980 and it has far as I know has always had a HIN of FMS00067580 on the registration. I recently received a letter from the DLNR (Dept of Land & Natural Resources) who I have to register the boat with that the USCG does not recognize my hull numbers and is giving m...

Re: Beach Cat Limit! What is it???

If I did not have to build a new house soon I would probably purchase a new ARC22 or preferably a 27. They are beautiful looking boats and look like they handle like a dream. I doubt I would ever get my moneys worth out of it compared to my SC20 I have fixed up. I do wonder how long Tom will be in b...

Re: What are the benefits of a self tacking jib?

You could always put an aluminum beam between the bridal tangs and use that for the tack of your jib. That would allow you to put a roller furling jib. I've seen it on a NACRA. I guess if you bury the bows though it is extra drag. It looks a little hokey too. I thought about doing that myself becaus...

Re: What are the benefits of a self tacking jib?

I think there might be some confusion after reading the latest posts here on curved self-tacking jib tracks. I think the curved track that Bill is talking about is a perfect radius curve. I bought a curved track from Aquarius to put on my SC20 and it works great. It was recommended by Tom over the s...

Re: Americas Cup

I think it is kind of a rhetorical question. Without the water it cannot move the way you want it to move. It's really not flying above the water, it is flying in the water. You take away the water and it doesn't work. Personally I don't have an issue with it. It's more exciting than watching some b...
