Re: Supercat 17 damage on the top of the hull

I would grind away the area that’s cracked. Your fiberglass/resin looks like it’s probably cracked too. I’d remove down to non damaged material and re-glass it. Otherwise the area might continue to move and crack with weight on the trampoline. Vacuum bagging might be a little difficult with the scre...

Re: Batten knots

To clarify. The top batten can’t be tightened anymore due to its length. It is fairly tight though but I suppose I could get it tighter if longer.

Re: Batten knots

Thanks again. I figured out I was putting the line the wrong way. That works much better. I’m curious how much force you use. Mine were a little loose and there was a little wrinkling. I tightened them and removed most of the wrinkles. However the top diagonal batten I put in as tight as it will go ...

Rolling and storing a sail.

I usually roll up my Kevlar sail as it comes down. The foot is the center of the roll. But I’m looking at the foot of the sail. It looks like the clew just in front the reinforcement area is crinkling a lot. It hasn’t delaminated but it doesn’t look like it’s good for the sail. Should it be rolled w...

Batten knots

There used to be a picture of how to tie batten caps to the sail. I cannot find it on the website here. Can tell Tom or Matt put that picture back up please? Thank you.

Im pretty sure I’m doing it correctly but want to make sure.

Re: Future Supercat 17 owner, Poplar Grove IL

Although I do not have that model I am pretty sure it was supposed to be an aluminum tube. Not too had to get a replacement.

Were you able to remove the bolts? I would think the half moon spacers will still work.

Is that and RV kit?

Re: RIP Bill Roberts

That's shocking and sad to hear. Although I never met him personally we did correspond while fixing up my SC20. He was a wealth of knowledge and unfortunately his corporate knowledge is gone forever. He did offer to take me out on his ARC 30 if I was in his area. I am sorry I was never able to get t...

Re: Newbies trapezing

I find new people are hesitant to trap but when they get out they love it. Then they want me to take videos of them while I’m sailing the boat.

Then it turns into a boondoggle.

Re: Damage to upper leading edge of rudders?

It is easy enough to take the rudder apart. By doing that you get to see the size of the pivot hole. You also get to see the width of the notch that the roller goes into. This should give you all the information you need to figure out what is wrong.

Re: Damage to upper leading edge of rudders?

Can you send pictures of the slot with the roller in? What is the diameter of the rollers? I believe they should be 3/4" Maybe you could install a larger diameter roller.

Re: Rudder Mods

I’m repainting the tips of my rudders and decided to clean up the castings a little. One thing I did was sand and smooth the roller tracks. I sanded the outer bearing surfaces that the plastic washers slide up and down. I also sanded the slots where the plastic threaded rod slides up and down. This ...
