SC19: Self-tacking jib + furler?
Don't actually have the boat yet - having a rough time getting it out of New York and on the road west. Maybe as far as Madison next week, but I'm beginning to resign myself to waiting for spring. In the meantime... I was looking through some old Aquarius stuff online (courtesy the wayback machine) ...

Re: Last sail of the season
Depressing, isn't it. That's a lovely shot, but tell us where you are?
With any luck my 19 gets here by the end of next week, but it's not at all certain I'll get to try it out before the weather gets nasty (or at least drysuit-worthy). The forecast calls for snow by this weekend...

Re: Beam end cap quick disconnect idea needed
Sure, that sounds good. You can't actually remove the caps from the boat without untying the shock cord, but you're not going to lose them either.

Re: Beam end cap quick disconnect idea needed
Hmmm... Seems to me that anything faster/easier is going to either stick out too much or be a little elaborate. Under "elaborate", spring-loaded (from inside the cap) pins that protrude into/through holes in the beam tube. Windsurfers use them a lot for connecting to boom and mast sections.

Re: Roller furling jib line tie off where??
I'm the cheapest bastard on the face of the planet, and the price difference is still meaningless to me.
If the weight difference is an issue, urinate before sailing, as the delta is grams (milliliters).
And they hurt exactly as much as Al when you bang into them.

Re: Roller furling jib line tie off where??
Not that I should have to add this, but my boats will never get a whiff of a plastic jam cleat. I don't know why those things even exist, since they're destroyed by a rope burn. Aluminum only.

Re: SC19 boards
Cool, thanks. I'm a lot less twitchy now about trashing the boards in one of the many reservoirs I sail whose depths vary a lot through the season. Another question (if I may without going too far OT my own thread): I'm assuming that the boat I'm getting has the shorter mast, which I gather is witho...

SC19 boards
I've been reading through the available materials, much of it the hyperbolic (yet highly entertaining) Boston Whaler marketing stuff. This leads me to ask a couple of questions about the SC19's boards. First, they claimed that sailing it without boards (and with the blanks installed instead) results...

Re: New SC19 (almost) owner questions
Manual request solved: Found in beachcats file section, along with glossy and price list.
Transportation problem, however, not solved yet. (Yes, I appreciate that it isn't a technical question, so I beg the reader's forgiveness.)

Re: Main Sheet/traveler Cleat Issues
I appreciate that people can be very polarized on this, but for me Oxen (Ochsen) blocks were/are the answer, both main and jib. A self-holding block without the usual external cam cleat means there is no cleat to have an angle problem with and thus no trouble getting into the cleat, getting enough s...

New SC19 (almost) owner questions
Hi, all. I'm in the process of buying the 19 out on Long Island that's been listed on beachcats for a few months. It's turning out to be a bit of a daunting process, as I haven't yet found anyone to haul it west (to Montana) for me - when I bought TriFoiler #23 from Boston a dozen years ago I didn't...
