George, Thanks for the compliment. You are right, my eye is much more critical than others, having done the work, and I see any imperfections. The paint used was PPG's Concept, single stage. One of the beauties of working with this paint is that it is easy to go back and touch up areas. I ended up f...

Getting close.

I was able to use a friend's warehouse for the weekend. Even still I was rushed as things always take much longer than you think.

So what do you think? More pictures to follow.

I have four daggerboards which all need work. As I posted in another thread there were some bulges in some of the boards. I had to take them down to the core.

More pictures. I was completely finished and ready to prime the hulls. I made some more stands so I could raise them up for painting. As I was mounting one of the hulls it rolled over and fell about 3 feet to the ground. The transom hit the cement and the rest of the boat hit the wood floor and a to...

How bad do you need it? I can go weigh mine sometime while it is down. I am kind of busy but I can do it if you really need it.

Thanks for the info.

I am going to try to repair them if it is not too much of a pain. Can you email me to let me know the ballpark price of new ones?

Bulging Dagger Boards

I have 4 dagger boards for my older SC-20. Each one of them has bulged out in certain areas along its length. They have done so to the point that they will not even fit all the way down a cleaned up dagger well (without carpet). If I take a straight edge to the boards you can see a definite bulge on...

How did it come out? Let's see some pictures when you are done.

I am about ready to paint my hulls also.

20 kts, that's all??

I thought it would do quite a bit faster than that. At least that is what I am telling all the chicks.

How Fast Will a SC-20 Go?

How fast do you think a SC-20 with just a sail and jib will go?

Decent sails, both Tall Rig and the normal mast.

Let me start with saying I have only painted single stage. I doubt there is a difference in performance of the paint. I usually paint single stage because I have to clean the gun only once. I also think it is easier to do touch ups with single stage. However I think it takes a little more skill to p...

My old inspection ports were cracked and the threads were stripped so I will replace them with new ones. One reason the ports cracked was because the holes weren't quite flat. This is probably due to the boat warping slightly over time. The fiber glass has cracked around the holes also. I started by...

Things have been a little busy plus some rain have made it difficult to work on the boat. I am missing some good sailing.

Anyway, I am still working on the transom. I have smoothed out the work and need to sand it, when it stops raining.

I would just work out the surface area of a cylinder 21 feet long and whatever the average diameter you think you have (3 feet?).

Let the paint store know what the square footage is and they can tell you how much you need.
