Re: SC 20 restore part 2

Can't use a standard jib with a self tacking set up, main would will work though. Sails should be here by the time I'm ready to go.

Re: SC 20 restore part 2

Thanks, it's been a ton of work and I'm glad it's pretty much over!

I had intended to go to the Mug Race and have taken the days off of work, but it's not looking like it will happen now. I do hope to get it down there for a race you guys will be at. Have to check what y'all are going to.

Re: SC 20 restore part 2

Got the mast up this past weekend and so far everything is fitting up perfectly! I'm setting up most of the systems and making sure the spin snuffer is going to work like I plan before taking it apart and moving it to the lake. http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/x377/Lakewateree/supercat/5e99e7da03...

Thought this was an informative video, explains some of the systems on the boat. Looks way too hard for me!

Re: SC 20 restore part 2

I went with a SNU similar to what you have. I had it made to a custom length, it's quite long and has some extra girth to it.

Re: SC 20 restore part 2

Finished the spin pole, it was quite a task. The dolphin striker wire ended up being a little long so I'll probably have to shorten or make a new one. The lines coming out of the end of the pole are jib downhaul (yellow) which is 4:1, spinnaker tack (red), and the first part of the jib sheet (green)...

D-PN numbers

I'm almost finished redoing my 20 and plan to taking it to a couple races. I was looking up the D-PN numbers and see that the SC20 standard and TR numbers are 65.0 and 63.8 respectively, no spin. My question is what would the numbers be for these with a spin?

Re: Foil Boats, The Big Picture

From some reading on different cat sailing forums it sounds like some of the A Class guys are wanting to move towards foiling. I've seen video of some A Cats doing it, not sure how well, looked like one was 'jumping' a good bit. Some of the people against moving in that direction are arguing that it...

Re: Steeplechase 2013

My 2 cents from my limited perspective... In my small area (South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia), most of the new boats that come to our races are Formula boats (F16,F18, A Cats), and there aren't many new boats showing up. Looking around on the other forums those also seem to be the boats that ...

Re: Outboard Motor Mount

Gene,

I might be willing to part with mine if your interested, pretty sure I won't be using it. I need to sell off some of the stuff I'm not using in the upgrade of my 20. PM me of you want to talk about it.

I didn't!

Thanks for the compliment on the work and all the information Bill. We are planning on bringing this boat to the Mug Race, hope to see you there!

Re: Outboard Motor Mount

It is very similar Jason. I thought it looked a little too good for homemade!

Re: Outboard Motor Mount

My 20 came with a homemade motor mount (I assume) that is nice. It could be raised and lowered and uses a quick pin to lock it in place. It bolted to the beam using the telescoping bolts. I don't think I can use it now that I will have solid beams. http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/x377/Lakewatere...
