Looking for Race Results

Hi Guys, I was just doing some work on the main Aquarius Sail website and realized that I had been really lacking in my duties. I don't have any race results from 2004 :( and I realize that 2004 is gone and I doubt anyone still has hard copies from some of the big races, but I am putting out the req...

Dave, The tramp tracks are permanently attached to the forward and rear beams. The tramp comes as two pieces, the main net part and the mesh bags. When installing you install the main part onto the rear beam and then pull it forward into the tracks on the hulls. The Bag is installed in the track on ...

Dave,
There is an upgrade kit available that adds a tramp track to the front beam just like the one you already have on your rear beam.
This upgrade kit should be all you need to upgrade to the newer net tramps.

Dan, The dagger boards are the same for port and startboard. I don't recall the exact wording in the SC20 manual but here is my guess. In the 1980's the process that was used to manufacture the daggerboards would allow for boards that could vary in dimensions, the thickness in particular. Because of...

Bill, I have come across some discussion on this problem in the past. A friend of mine had a similar experience to yours using a Garmin GPS unit while downhill skiing. He tossed the unit in his ski jacket and “bombed” the run. The run was approx. 1.5 miles and the GPS receiver reported a peak speed ...

2004 Steeplechase - Viewpoint from the SC20TR

Bill Roberts and Dave Weir sailed a 1982 built SC20TR catamaran in the 2004 Steeplechase Race, here is their account of the race: We arrived at Key Largo around 3:00 PM on Friday and began putting the boat together. Hulls, beams and the tramp went pretty fast. Then the mast went up with the spin hal...

Just a little North of Minnesota

Some of you may have already seen these photos, but I thought they were pretty neat and I would share them anyway.

These were taken from the USS HONOLULU (Los Angeles-class fast attack submarine) at the Arctic Circle, 280 miles from the North Pole.

Eric, Here is a step-by-step set of photos showing how to thread the mainsheet on your ARC-21. Here are a couple of things to keep in mind: 1) This mainsheet was designed to be used with a 5/16" line diameter, if something larger is used it will most likely bind. 2) Start by going thru the clea...

Eric, I typically handle everything relating to the spinnaker hoisting and takedown leaving the skipper with the sole responsibility of steering. In the past we have tried having the skipper hoist the sail and control/feed the halyard during the takedown, but I have found that I have more control if...

Eric, We made the spinnaker bag. It is a square bag made from waterproff material and has a semi-circular opening in the top of it. The cover on the bag zips down the two sides and has a velcro closure at the back. I usually leave the outboard zipper closed and only open the inboard zipper, this lea...

Eric, I think your going to find that the answer to your question is probably no. The only boat that I have sailed on with a snuffer is the 17 and personally I could take it or leave it. There were some benefits, but there were also some drawbacks to having the snuffer. The two main benifit was that...

New Photo Upload Feature

I have upgraded the photo attachment feature of the forums. The most notable new feature is that photos larger then 640x640 or 50KB will now be shown as a reduced thumbnail (approx 400 x400) instead of the "Paperclip" Icon and link. The reduced thumbnail can then be "clicked" and...
