Re: Upper wind limit for S20
At first just a few tree tops showed, now those tree tops are 15ft high. Most of this summer we still had some clean runs. We had to go through rows of trees to get to the clean runs but once we got to the clean runs we were good to go. But the lake kept dropping and eventually we were hitting every...

Re: Upper wind limit for S20
Here is picture of my buddy on his Nacra last week. The trees are from before they built the dam 60 years ago. They are usually far under water, last year they started popping up and this year (the second dry winter in a row) they are everywhere. https://fbcdn-sphotos-c-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash...

Re: Upper wind limit for S20
The extra beam is going to be awesome. Our lake is at 9% of full capacity because of two dry winters in a row, so it virtually guaranteed that there will be damage to dagger boards, and the dagger boards on the SC20 are prefect...so unless I get over to to ocean, she is going to have to wait till sp...

Re: Upper wind limit for S20
38.5ft...wow that would be a tall rig.
Matt, that makes sense, I will stick with the 33ft mast and run a smaller sail if necessary. Thanks for the heads up.

Re: Upper wind limit for S20
I didn't know the SuperCat 20 came with two different mast options. All the stats I have seen list a 33ft mast. I measured mine and it is 33ft. Would that be considered a standard or tall rig? I should try a Hobie 18 sail on it. It looks like my H18 has sold (guy sent a deposit and supposed to pick ...

Upper wind limit for S20
I just got a SC20 that I am getting ready for the water. I have been sailing a H18 for a few years on our very windy local lake (Lake Isabella...better known to kiteboarders and windsurfers than sailors). We have had good luck putting smaller sails up (like using H16 sails on a H18). I am wondering ...

Re: Introduction
Our local lake averages 15 to 25 every afternoon with gusts a bit higher. It can be a bit much...one time the wind really picked up and after a bit of survival boating to get back it was very difficult to derig. It took two guys to hold the front of the boat just to get the sails down. Then we lost ...

Re: Introduction
Kevin, I will keep it down at the lake during the summer and put it on the trailer for trips (San Diego, Huntington Lake, and out to Ventura for the offshore races). Maintaining Trailerability is important. Lake Isabella is surrounded by mountains. The wind rips everyday as air moves from the Centra...

Re: Introduction
Hey Kevin, the tramp looks serviceable. I am hoping to be able get a couple seasons out of it anyhow. A lot of the running rigging is not in very good shape (jib sheets, bungy, and rudder lines). I am not sure what to think of the cable traveler set up. Is that what most people use or is that usuall...

Introduction
I have been sailing for several years, first on a H14 then a H18. I have been looking for a Super Cat for a few years and this past week good deal on one near Sacramento CA. After seeing Team Oracle USA tie up to 8 and 8 we ended up dropping everything and making the journey up to the bay area. Afte...
