Re: Rolling and storing a sail.
Yes, but it's a 10x easier to hoist it when it's unrolled already so actually doesn't make much difference. Longevity wise we have found the sails rolled from the top are typically in better condition for much longer then if rolled from the bottom up.

Re: Batten knots
Kevin,
I usually tighten the main battens by pushing with my thumb until the batten (tubular) has a slight bend to it. Its tight enough to take the wrinkles out but not excessive.
The same thing for the gaff batten, however, if it isn't long enough that will make it more difficult

Re: Rolling and storing a sail.
Hi Kevin, It is our opinion that sails should be rolled from the top down. We typically fold the top of the sail down at the 2nd full batten and then start rolling from there. That typically keeps the top from being rolled too tightly and getting a fold/curl in the square top. There are several reas...

Re: Supercat 20 and 17
Hi Paul, Please see my comments below: Few questions... Just picked up a Supercat 20 10 hours away from home and I've driven further for one. 1)Tom or Matt..you familiar with the steel expandable<port side> trailer? Appreciate any experience with them. The only expandable trailer I have had experien...

Re: Compression dings in hulls
I suspect it is probably just cosmetic. If it is rectangular and vertical I am guessing it is actually a "silhouette" of the bulkhead caused by the foam shrinking as it cured.

Re: What size cat trax needed for a SC17
I would agree that a cat trax with a 7' center line on the cradles should work fine. If your interested we sell cat trax using the Florida Sail Craft wheels and our own cradle and axle design for the SuperCat, ARC and RC catamarans. If your interested please give Tom a call at 651-462-SAIL.

Jonathan,
One additional thought on rotating the mast when lowering the mainsail. Since you have spreaders on the mast you can always push on the diamond wire to rotate the mast. It hit me today when I was lowering the main

Re: Recent purchase SC17, Jib sheet issues, help!
Doug, If the foot of the jib is "luffing" then it sounds to me like the sheet angle is incorrect and there is probably too much leech tension and insufficient foot tension which is causing the luffing issue. Can you post a few pictures of your jib rigged on your boat. Over the years there ...

Re: New gripe sheet for an old 19
Hi Jonathan, 1) Can you post some photos of your traveler setup? I think I am visualizing what your describing, however I don't ever recall anyone raising the issue you describe. 2) I suspect your tramp is an aftermarket. All of the OE tramps always had the bag as an integral part of the tramp. Ther...

Re: Any comments on hiking straps vs. ropes?
Jonathan, The beauty of the rope is that you can always get your foot under them (even wearing shoes) without using your hands. You don't want to lace them "tight", leave an inch or so of slack so you can push your foot under them. With a flat webbing hiking strap they tend to stick to the...

Jonathan,
I know people have used CL241 or the CL 258 because of their low profile is little more pleasant to sit on.

Re: 19 tramp install pain
Jonathan, Yellow cross cut tramp is probably an original, they haven't been made that way (cross seam) since about 1984. So good chance it shrunk a bit. Since it is a wrap style tramp you could try installing by starting at the front and feeding it toward the back. The hull is a bit wider by the fro...
