Re: Releasing the main sail and rotation

Thanks for the quick responses!

Will try today with the tube out.

Thanks for the tip on the extension wire. Would there be any advantage to getting the new style levers?

Ladder

Now that the repairs are done it's on to the sailing questions!! I was reading through some old posts and came across one in which Kevin mentioned 'climbing the ladder' to release the shroud extender. Is there some sort of ladder that was offered on the 20's? If so are they still available? I was wo...

Releasing the main sail and rotation

Im having a heck of a time releasing the main on my 20 tall rig. It hooks very easily, just pull it up and give it a tug down and it's hooked. When I try and take it down I pull it up and then try and rotate the mast and pull down (all with another person). One problem is it so hard to rotate the ma...

Re: Getting my SC 20 on the water

Couple more picturse and a video with some better action. We were moving along pretty good and there really wasn't that much wind, fun! I didn't take the spin out this day, not too crazy about the bag launch, prefer the snuffer system like my Viper. May convert it over this winter. http://youtu.be/X...

Re: Righting

How do you rig your righting line? I was thinking tie off to the dolphin striker throw over the hull? Could I leave it tied off or would the fact that the striker floats cause problems?

Mast base pin

I have the ARC 22 tall rig on my SC20. Does the pin in the mast base stay in while sailing? On my other boats the pin was just for stepping the mast and pulled for sailing. The guy I bought the boat from said it should always stay in because the mast will jump off the ball if you release the extende...

Righting

The guy I bought my SC20 went out with me on my inaugural sail yesterday. He is telling me that there is no way I'll be able to right the boat even with the shroud extenders and crew without help from a powerboat. How does this hold with everyone else's experience? Its a tall rig by the way.

Re: Getting my SC 20 on the water

I used an industrial two part high build polyurethane. Didn't realize it was high build until it was already tinted. I sanded between the second and third coat, it looks pretty good, great from a few feet haha. Rigging in 2 days and looks to be a little wind on the lake this weekend!!! I'll have the...

Re: Getting my SC 20 on the water

Paintings finally done! Started putting on the decals and Hydro Turf. I was doing both of these by myself but stopped on the decals so I could get an extra pair of hands. Got the striping and all on one side buts it's a little wavy, probably pull it off and reapply with some help. Put the Turf on th...

Re: Getting my SC 20 on the water

Got the second coat of primer on yesterday. Before shooting it I skimmed the pinholes and another place that needed a little attention with some glazing putty I picked up. It's thinner than the bondo I faired my repairs with and covered nicely, really easy to work with. I then sanded the hulls down ...

Re: Getting my SC 20 on the water

Got the primer on today. I found a few pin holes where I did the fairing so I'll fix those tomorrow and shoot another coat of primer. I can also see some sanding scratches through the primer, hopefully the next coat will cover those. http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/x377/Lakewateree/35a4ed4f.jpg ...
