Rudder repairs
I've got an extra set of rudders I'm going to fix to have on standby. Wanting some guidance on a couple things I'm unsure of. The notches for the rollers on one is beat up pretty good (pic after a small amount of sanding). I traced the profile of the other rudder head for a template. I'm assuming th...

Re: Getting my SC 20 on the water
Mike, I don't have the boat anymore so can't give you any measurements. I regret selling it though! If I can find another one near by ill probably grab it! The self tacking set up on the boat was homemade, but pretty well done. The jib was attached to the forestay by a zipper, nothing fancy. There w...

Re: supercat 17 traveler pics please
Here is a pic I found off of the SC20 I used to have. It looks like it might be backwards in the picture but should be enough to get you going if yours is the same set up. The blocks attached to the top of the car. http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/x377/Lakewateree/ef928338872c387067e38af4d26f13f1...

Re: Weather helm
I'm hoping mine is a rudder toe or mast rake problem, but will see. Like yours, mine isn't horrible, but definetly annoying.

Re: Getting my SC 20 on the water
Got the kite up for a little while last weekend. I hope to switch it to a snuffer style launching system soon.

Re: Releasing the main sail and rotation
Went out today and couldn't get the main down. Luckily I still had our bucket truck there and was able to get it down that way. I had someone try and get it down while I was up in the truck so I could see what was going on. When the sail was raised and the mast rotated, the ring followed mast, so it...

Re: Hull repair advice SC 15
Is that the top or bottom of the hull? I would start by doing some sanding/grinding to see what's going on. If water is bubbling out the core has probably soaked up water. I have fixed soft spots by injecting thickened epoxy through a series of holes drilled through the outer layer of glass. Others ...

Weather helm
On the first sailing this weekend of the SC20 I just finished I had weather helm. I wasn't horrible like I've had on older cats but did require me to be constantly pulling on the tiller. It got worse as the wind picked up. What are the common causes of this? Rudde issues, mast rake?? I'd really like...

Re: Jib battens
I think the jib downhaul/lack of tension may be my problem. I talked to Tom this afternoon while ordering some parts and he is going to send me a diagram of your downhaul set up on the 22.

Re: Jib battens
Mine is self tacking and is really flat. When I sheet it my set up seems to pull straight down on it. It looks pretty close to the set up Kevin got though you guys. I'm hoping to get him to send me some more pictures of his. Mine under sail. I've got to figure out a downhauled for it so it doesn't s...

Jib battens
Am I missing something on my jib battens? I can't tension them at all. Thought I might be missing the end caps like the ones on the main? My jib has terrible shape to it, trying to correct it. http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/x377/Lakewateree/abb53925.jpg http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/x377/...

Re: Righting
I guess I need to grow a pair and turn it over and find out for myself! I had trouble getting the mainsheet to release yesterday and almost went over. Man we were WAY up in the air!!
