Re: spreader tips cracked

I guess you could make the shim in the shape of a T so it would have some over hang over the spreader tube end. That should prevent the shim from slipping further down the tube and also keep the diamond wire from touching the spreader tube.

Re: spreader tips cracked

The one thing I thought about was taking a bandsaw and cutting the spreader from the inside end up to the hole. A little slot sort of. Then slip the wire up to the hole and putting a thin shim back in the slot to fill in the cut portion and then cramming it into the spreader. Does that make sense? I...

Eric,

I just bought one. How did you mount yours? Do you have any pictures of the installation.

Try this post. http://owners.aquarius-sail.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=108&highlight=rudder As for loose rudder/ transom castings about the only thing I can think of, if I understand you correctly is to tighten up the bolts that hold the gudgeons onto the transom. If you look at my post on refurb...

Pab, I don't know about letting out the traveler 6 inches, if that is better or not. Personally I would pull it in as tight as possible when beating especially if you have a wire traveler, which adds a little slop. I could be wrong though. I am not a pro but that is an interesting question. With sol...

From what I remember there is maybe inch and a half of threads.

I broke one bolt taking mine out. I used a stud welder (used in autobody work) to heat it up and it broke the corrosion. Obviously don't heat it up too much. There was a small amount sticking up and I used some vise grips to remove it.
