Re: Righting a SC15, Parts, and Repairing

Braeden910, We typically will tie the righting line around the forward cross beam right between the tramp and the hull. I personally have found it to be a bit more beneficial to put the line over the top of the hull, however as the boat starts to come up that will put you on the outside of the hull,...

Re: Outboard Motor Mount

Greg,

Do you know where the balance point is located on the torqueedo when it is sitting horizontal like this? Worst case if all the weight was located in the propeller you would be looking at roughly 115 lb-ft of torque on the front beam.

Re: Sail On Bill Roberts

William C. Roberts, Jr. died peacefully Friday evening April 12, 2019 at his home on the St. Lucie River in Palm City, FL doing what he loved best, preparing to go long distance racing on one of the world’s fastest production sailing catamarans of his own design. Billy, as he was then known, was bor...

Sail On Bill Roberts

We are sad to report that Bill Roberts passed away unexpectedly last Friday, April 12th 2019. It was an extremely sad day for Bill's family and everyone that knew him. He was a great contributor to the catamaran sailing community and will be greatly missed. When the phone rang at 11:00 we always kne...

Re: Righting a SC15, Parts, and Repairing

Braden, I'll respectively disagree with Havliii about not using the righting system. The righting system was designed so one person could right the SuperCat 20 and works extremely well on the SuperCat 15. I will agree that reconnecting the shroud when by yourself can be difficult, but if you use you...

Re: Weather / Lee Helm SC 17 - Help needed

Tom, You might not be able to see the asymmetry with the naked eye. It can be very subtle and in some cases only visible with a set of templates or a straight edge. The problem may only be with one rudder, or it could be with both. Assuming both rudders are original to your boat it would not surpris...

Re: Weather / Lee Helm SC 17 - Help needed

Tom, If you consistently have weather helm on the starboard tack and it is neutral or lee helm on port tack regardless of which side the rudders are mounted on the boat then I would be 99% certain that the problem is with the rudder(s) having an asymmetrical profile. Other things like tip movement d...

Re: Square Top Sails - Part 2: The Square Top Sail and SAIL TWIST

Here are a few examples of varying degrees of twist in a square top sail. All photos were taken in 5-7MPH of wind over a period of a few minutes. The first picture shows the sail with a very straight leech. This picture was made to show the extreme of leech position, minimum twist, rather than to sh...

Re: Mast Section

Kevin, The demand for Carbon masts has steadily increased over the years which directly effects the demand for aluminum extrusions. Unfortunately the aluminum extruder we have historically used changed ownership and is no longer interested in pushing the long extrusion lengths needed for masts. We a...

Re: Raising the mast

Braeden, The 15 & 17 mast can easily be raised with 2 or 3 people here are a couple of suggestions: Only open 1 lever, with two levers open the mast could go too far forward and damage the mast pedestal Put one person on the tramp to lift the mast. Put one person at the top to help lift it off t...

Re: Sc15 hull repair

Hold tight on trying to repair that from the inside. There is a flange inside the bow that I think is going to make that repair difficult.
I would really give Tom a call and he can give you the best advice on how to fix that...
