Re: SC 20 restore part 2
Got the beams bolted down tight today. I've also gotten the spin pole socket mounted and the spin pole fitted up. Everything is fitting up like it's supposed to so far. Waiting on a couple things right now so I took the opportunity to put a set of cat trax together as well. Tramp should be coming pr...

Re: Boat weight
It would be interesting to see how other hulls and from different years weigh in.
My wife and I are on the lighter side (280lbs combined) so I guess that will help

Boat weight
Figured I would start this in a new thread since it really has nothing to do with the 2013 Steeplechase thread where it started. Anyway........ My boat is fat! According to Bill the SC20 hull should weigh 120lbs from Boston Whaler or 110 from Formula. I just put mine (1982 Boston Whaler) back inside...

Re: Steeplechase 2013
They are Boston Whaler hulls. We moved them the other day, they are definitely heavy! It would be interesting to see how much they weigh after 30+ years. Might try and figure a way to weigh them

Re: Steeplechase 2013
I have no idea how much it weighs or is supposed to weigh. I can weigh it before I paint them next week though. It will be a crude weighing though, have nothing more than a bathroom scale to do it with.

Re: Steeplechase 2013
Thanks for the write up Bill and congratulations to Eric and Dave on the win... I was looking at the picture of the 22 and had a question for you. I notice that one of your spin blocks is mounted what looks like between the beam straps. Is that the recommended placement, one at the shroud anchor pla...

Re: SC 20 restore part 2
I'm pretty deep into the upgrade now. I got the material for solid beams and a good friend was gracious enough to do the machine work for me. I couldn't find anywhere close by that did anodizing so I had the beams powder coated by a place I do a lot of sandblasting for. They didn't turn out like I h...

Re: Dolphin striker wire tension
Great information! Are the jibs cut differently for the straight and curved tracks?

Re: 2014 Florida Schedule
Do you happen to know the date of the Mug Race? Do you need any kind of ground crew? I'm assuming you don't start and stop at the same place.
I should have my 20 done by early spring, might hit this one.

Thanks Bill! That makes perfect sense.

Re: SC 20 restore part 2
Pulled the front beam today. This boat was in saltwater only for all of its life until I got it. Those 8 bolts were not fun to remove. Used a can of PB Blaster and took about 2hrs!

Spin pole question
Most likelY one for Bill, but if anyone else can answer go ahead. I'm in the process of upgrading my 20 and am adding a spinnaker. I'm getting everything I possibly can from the factory, but am doing the spin pole myself because of shipping. Tom gave me the length of 14ftX2.5" o.d., hence the s...

Re: SC 20 restore part 2
Removed the stripes, put on the other lid, and fixed a couple dings today. Removing 30 year old decals sucks. Tried a hair dryer, then a 3m decal remover wheel, then acetone, and finally settled on MEK and a razor scraper. Time consuming but they are off. The job looked to be a back breaker so I app...
