Re: Americas Cup
Well.... technically the foils displace some water also. Albeit a relative small amount.

Re: Racing SC20's
Here is some video of the 2 days of racing at our club. My SC20 is the one with the yellow Kevlar sails.

Re: Racing SC20's
You had to ask me that. A bunch of Hobies. Is that good enough? I really don't pay attention to what they are. Some Miracles 20's and others. Sorry I can't be more specific.Mac M wrote:What were the other boats you raced against?

Re: What are the benefits of a self tacking jib?
It was the best performance enhancer for my SC20 that I have done. It really takes care of itself. Tacks are effortless. Most of the time I have the sails in tight and a tack consists of me pushing the tiller over. That's all. Well... I usually move my butt over to the other side. I do point much be...

Re: Racing SC20's
I raced a few weeks ago and yes, I saw the same problem going downwind myself. I would have some making up to do after the downwind leg. I assume it is because our boats are heavier. I did outpoint almost everyone else upwind though. It might have had something to do with me being solo with 10-15kno...

Re: Yet another weather helm problem....
Hi Tinho, I understand the principle of reducing mast rake. My problem stems from putting a self-tacking jib on which I believe has a smaller area than the original sail. It's not bad enough to really bother me but it is not as nice when my helm was very balanced. I need to pay more attention to hea...

Re: Yet another weather helm problem....
Leigh, Unless I am misreading your post.... I am trying to picture one hull being farther ahead than the other. I think the only way that would be possible is if saddles were put in the wrong place! If that is true you should be able to compare the distances from the tip of the hull to the saddles o...

Re: Tubes for Cat-Trax
$30 for a tube??? Wow.. I looked a while ago for tubes and think I found them for quite a bit cheaper. I will try looking again. I could use some new tires too as mine are pretty well cracked. Just found some on Ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/21X12-00-8-ATV-Tire-Inner-Tube-21X12-0-8-21X12-8-21-12-8-2...

Re: Bridle Foils??
I have heard you need to be careful mixing carbon fiber with fiberglass because they stretch differently under stress. That can lead to separation, especially when there is foam in between them. I had the same bulkhead separation issues with mine but as you can see from my restoration I cut holes fo...

Re: Bridle Foils??
You can always put an extra layer of fiberglass on the forward hull to beef it up a little.
