Supercat 15 and why did I ever sell it

Hello all,

I am a previous owner of a Supercat 15. I had it for about a year and a half (1992-93) in Fort Walton Beach and sold it before moving to CA with the USAF. It's been a long time but I sure do miss it sometimes. Had a Vanguard 15 and a Nacra 450 in the interim. The SC was a lot more fun than the Nacra.

If you hear of a SC-15 or 17 for sale I'd be interested in looking.

I got my 15 for $300, but it was just hulls, mast and beams. Then, transport from Texas to VA, new sails, new tramp, rigging, blocks, steering. Could have bought a new 27 by now!

Of course, as soon as I bought mine, they started coming out of the woodwork. They have been going for $1000-1500 with the standard rig, so look for them in that range. I added a self tacker to mine and I'm working on a spin set up. That would definitely add to it.

I have been doing a lot of sailing on a 450 as well and as much as I like that boat, the SC15 is just a smoother, beefier boat--that weighs the same!

Check on Craigs or do a Google search. There is one in Atlanta for sale, but the guy is hard to get in touch with.

Well to revive a very old thread, I'm back in the SC game. I have a verbal agreement on a 17 which I will be picking up in about a month. It's about 500 miles away and that's my first chance to get it. Since posting originally I have acquired a Nacra 5.7 which I love sailing but hate stepping the mast, and a H14 for just goofing around. I think the 14 will have to go away soon.

Tnell,
I know I am somewhat late in response. Did you ever get the SC17? I am thinking of selling my SC15 to get a 17 or maybe a SC18 if the price is right.

I did get the SC 17 several weeks ago and have not yet had time to even touch it. I’m in the process of putting my Brand N boat back together after an unfortunate lawnmower accident required major repairs. After it’s all squared away I will spend some time with the SC. However, if there’s any interest in the 17, I could possibly be talked into selling for what I got it for.
