Trampoline Slit on the SC20

Post by Kevin Keller »

Anyone know what the slits in the trampoline located near the side stays are for. I was told they were so you could reach through and release the side stay extender. Seems like it might be difficult to do that though.

That is what I was told as well. However I find it tricky to do that. I find it easier to go over the top of the hull but then again I have really long arms. :)

I got an answer from Tom:

Kevin,

Yes you were told correctly. They originally were intended for that purpose.
My first SC20 had them and I got my arm caught in it when righting the boat. Sort of exciting to say the least. When we starting building the tramps we removed them for obvious reasons.
I would not recommend that you attempt using them :)

Sincerely,
