We are original owners of an SC17. Considering purchase of an SC19.
Since we frequently have crew weight around 400# + it sounds like the bigger boat would work a bit better for us.
I've seen PN figures listed for the boats at 73/69 respectively. For anyone who has sailed both, is there a significant speed difference?
We wouldn't be racing the boat - just looking for maximum thrills on a reach.
Thanks!
SC17 vs SC19 speed?

I have had both... The 19 is def. faster... And you have a lot more tramp space... The biggest difference is the weight...

jjd78, by weight I assume you are talking about crew weight. Anything else about sailing characteristics between the two?

by weight i mean both crew weight and the boats weight.. since the 19 has dagger boards it bow is not as tall as the 17's. the masts are the same except the spreaders on the 19. the daggers are 5' tall and can be a pain to pull up. but it points well and is a very smooth wet ride..
