1st Saturday of the Month (May)

Post by fjviola »

3 May was our "1st Saturday of the Month" http://tcdyc.com/?q=node/1596 for May 2014 at Texas City Dike.

"Conditions almost perfect , wind was a little on the high side for some, but coming straight out of the south kept our side slick till you got out of the protection of the dike. Then it was gale force whitecaps. Most power sailing the full length of the dike. approx. 18 boats. Minimal carnage, a pair of rudders, the side of a Hobie, and a forced dive under a RIB (chase-boat). No loss of life just some bruised ribs and egos. As they say what does not kill us makes us stronger. And would you believe a camera washed up on the beach! All in all a great way to kick off the season." (Steve Hicks / F17)

Todd and I represented Aquarius with our vintage SC17. As usual, our 'beach cat' was first off the dike :D even while all others had 2+ hour head-start stepping masts and fiddling with rigging adjustments ...

Great day!
