arc22 w and w/o forward tramp

Post by WindyB »

Looking for feedback on anyone who has sailed an ARC 22 with and without forward tramp (new version).
Interested in ARC 22 comments

forward tramp

Post by Jim Moody »

Windy:

I've sailed an ARC 22 with the front tramp for two years.

Pros: greater area to "roam" around when pleasure sailing
allows you to douse the jib off the beach, hoist the jib when the boat is on the cat trax
use the edge for support with the crew forward of or on the main beam, and allows the crew a forward location doing the "mild thing"

Con: takes a little longer to set up and dismantle the boat for transport
? may or may not be a hindrance or benefit when we figure out a
snuffer system for the boat.

Can get some pics if that will be of any help.

Thanks Eric. The graphics guys did a great job. Her "tender" (a 26ft Scarab Sportster center console) is named Cut It Out but no red swath or scalpel.
