There used to be a picture of how to tie batten caps to the sail. I cannot find it on the website here. Can tell Tom or Matt put that picture back up please? Thank you.

Im pretty sure I’m doing it correctly but want to make sure.

Hi Kevin,
Here are the steps for tying the battens into the sail. We just use a square knot (Steps 5 & 6)
Step #1 Position batten.jpg
Step #2 Instert batten.jpg
Step #3 thread tie, up thru stirrup & down thru grommet.jpg
Step #4 Start square knot.jpg
Step #5 tension batten with thumbs.jpg
Step #6 complete square knot.jpg
Step #7 tuck tails into pocket.JPG

Thanks again. I figured out I was putting the line the wrong way. That works much better.
I’m curious how much force you use. Mine were a little loose and there was a little wrinkling. I tightened them and removed most of the wrinkles. However the top diagonal batten I put in as tight as it will go and there’s still a wrinkle across the top. I’ll try to take a pic sometime. The batten is pretty tight but needs to be about an inch longer.

To clarify. The top batten can’t be tightened anymore due to its length. It is fairly tight though but I suppose I could get it tighter if longer.

Kevin,
I usually tighten the main battens by pushing with my thumb until the batten (tubular) has a slight bend to it. Its tight enough to take the wrinkles out but not excessive.

The same thing for the gaff batten, however, if it isn't long enough that will make it more difficult :D
