Dagger board carpet

Post by Eric2101 »

Newbie to ARC 21, I need to replace the carpet material in the dagger board trunks. I would prefer to replace it with the same type of material, can anyone tell me what it is? Looks like a heavy felt...

Eric,

We have the material that was original equipment. Poly Olefin bonded back.
Thickness is critical.
Adhesive is 3M 847 Automotive trim adhesive.
It is the only adhesive that will stay put. inside the trunk.

You will have to remove all the old adhesive before you try to install new gasket material. Lacquer thinner will work well but do not leave the lacquer thinner rag lay on any of the painted surfaces too long, it may cause fogging or dulling.

Eric,

Having done that, been there, and now looking at another round of "glueing" here are my suggestions.
Definitely use the glue/bonding agent Tom is referring to.
Flip the hulls over to do the bottom set.
Make sure the entire surface of the carpet is well adheased before considering the job "done".
The prep, as with most projects, is of utmost importance.

Good luck,
