SC20 beam retention bolt-holes stripped

Post by wlvaught1 »

I am refurbishing a '86 SC20 and realized one of the beam retention bolt holes in the hull is stripped. Is this a common problem? If so, is there a simple solution? Unsure if the threads in the hulls are aluminum, epoxy or other material. I see my options as drill/tap a larger bolt thread, fill hole with epoxy and re-drill/tap, or possibly use heli-coils...Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks

I think the back up plates are aluminum. I would call Tom at Aquarius on this one. He has always been most helpful when I had a question.
