I am looking to see if I can get some of the sail dimensions for the SC-17, and I figured if we can get a conversation started here, maybe we could get information for the other SuperCat ARC sails in one place.
I want to first preface this with the fact that I am not sailing/ racing in any One Design fleet nor do I plan to, which will make the rest of this post make a little more sense.
Last year my dad had a sail made for his PHRF boat which did not end up working out well for his rig. He has a few extra sails because of this and a good working relationship with the sail makers, so he offered to give me the sails he has on hand to have them cut by our sail maker for my SC-17. This would include a new Jib and Square top main.
I figure in professional hands I could give the sail maker my current jib for him to base the new one off of, but my current main (which is still in good condition) is not a square top so he will more or less be doing a custom job.
It is for this reason I was wondering if anyone had the critical dimensions of the SC-17 sails on hand. Most important for this application would be the luff of the main, second would be the foot, but having all dimensions cataloged is the goal here.
P.S. I am also working on updating/ modernizing the Master Parts List for the SC boats based on the owners manual and parts list that I have copies of. I have basically taken the Parts List for the SC-17 and written all of the ARC part numbers in a spreadsheet and added descriptions and quantities used. I have also made a new table for line replacements and I am looking into putting a compatibility list for things like spars, paints, epoxies, sails, tramps, etc. based on information on the forums as well as technical information from the Aquarius website and owners manuals. The hope is to create an easy to use resource for all things SuperCat/ Aquarius Sails for new and old owners alike.
Has anyone else tried this before, or would be interested in having access to this? Let me know and I'll share my process/ progress.
