Jib Block Tracks??

Post by Kevin Keller »

I have a SC20 and am thinking about putting some kind of track system on each hull so I can move the jib blocks fore and aft.

Has anyone else done something like this?

Kevin,

I don't recall ever seeing any 20's with tracks for the jib, but I know that a lot of guys put extra eyestraps on the hulls so they could move the jib leads forward or aft to get the proper sheeting angle for their jib.

Thanks Matt. I have thought about that also. Would you recommend doing that instead of putting a track system down?

What kind of range would you make these points?

Is this an adjustment you make once and leave it there for sailing different points?

I am still doing fiberglass work on my hulls and it looks like it would be easy to add a track.

Typically I think this is an adjustment you would make for a certain sail and then leave it alone. To me a track & car always looks cluttered, where as the eyestraps tend to be low-profile and clean looking. In the past I have seen them with eyestraps at each tramp track hole location over an 18-24" range.
