Foot Strap Installation

Post by Kevin Keller »

I would like to put a couple of foot straps on the sides of each hull.

I am pretty sure that it would be mounted over a foam cored portion of the hull. I am thinking the best way to do this to grind a 2 inch diameter circle through the outer layer of glass and through the foam core without damaging the inner core.

I would fill this area in with glass and epoxy and mount the screws through this with large curved washer or a backing plate on the inside.

Does this sound like a good method?

Thanks Matt for your answers to all of my previous questions.

Kevin,

That sounds like a decent way to do it, but I am not sure that you really need to remove the core as long as you put a decent sized backing plate inside the hull. If you have a good sized washer on the outside too that will help to prevent the core from getting crushed.
